@dlowan,

@dlowan,
By all means, go for it, Deb.
And while you're at it, you might explain how your "enabling" argument applies to anyone supporting the NRL, as well. As well as just about any other football association, world-wide.

Heck, I didn't start this.
I was simply enjoying another AFL grand final, which included my childhood heroes, Collingwood.

I can't understand why you've brought "enabling" into the equation.

But go ahead, explain what you mean.

@msolga,
Msolga, I made what to me was a simple joke.

That you have decided it was an insult is unfortunate and not intended.

i would have thought we knew each other well enough to talk calmly.
I am going to leave this alone as I will get really pissed off.

if you want a reasonable discussion feel free to email me.

19 minutes into the final quarter & things are looking rather grim for Collingwood.

Sigh.

Go maggies!

@dlowan,
Sorry, Deb.
Anyone would feel insulted about being called an "enabler", in some sort of undefined sense.
You consider that a "simple joke"?
I don't. But never mind.

I think I have been "talking calmly" in response to your words.
Also, I haven't accused anyone else of anything here.
Heck, I've been talking about a football grand final, for heavens sake! Nothing else.

So yes, I do feel offended by your comments.
Surely that's not too surprising?
But sure, let's leave it here.
I think the whole "issue" is silly.

@msolga,
Sorry msolga, you were in it for a long way but then the Cats struck when it counted, ah well there is always next year. Good game of football I enjoyed it.

@Dutchy,
They did indeed strike when it counted, Danny.
Which is how they achieved their well deserved victory. And it was a great game to watch, I agree!
Especially under the decidedly less-than-ideal weather conditions.

But let's not think about next year ... not just yet! Wink

@msolga,
Have you stopped crying yet msolga or do you need a shoulder to lean on? Laughing What are we going to talk about now with the football season finished?

@Dutchy,
Almost stopped crying here, Dutchy. Almost .... Wink

What can we talk about next?
Any number of things do do with living in this terrific country.

But right now I am too wiped out to contribute toward any new subjects for discussion ...
I'm sure you'll understand. Smile

Imagine you've just emigrated to Australia - its the 1950s - these are the posters the government provides you with to 'assimilate'.

Amazed that any stayed. Or maybe it was motivational to drive a passion for change?

@hingehead,
I remember them well as my family arrived here in 1950 but hasn't emigration brought a massive change in the variety of foods available these days? Many, many today's of dishes were unheard of in the 1950's! I still love my Aussie pie with tomato sauce though.

@Dutchy,
I was pretty appalled that the only vegetable was potato. It looks bloody awful to my modern eyes.

A young man in the pub said he was thinking of going to Oz.

I told him to watch Neighbours for three months.

He's never mentioned the idea since.
