Condoms are available from vending machines in toilets around England. Nothing new there the same in Australia. however i noticed one of the brand names for condoms was "Golden Root"

@dadpad,
In one of Nigel Rees graffiti books he'd found, under a condom vending machine, this:

'This is the worst chewing gum I've ever tasted'

So I was just in my local gorcery store and found they're now stocking something called Wiley Wallaby Australian Style Outback Beans with Black Licorice Centers (or Chewy Red Centers)(well, not actually "stocking"--they're in the 75% off clearance bin, so apparently they haven't been a major hit with the buying public). Sounds like something Harry Potter would like. They're bean-sized presumably licorice with colored candy coatings.

My guess is they're more Minnesotan, where the previously unknown candy company is, than Australian. Do you guys really eat Outback Beans?

@MontereyJack,
Hi Jack, I've never heard of 'em. I quick hunt shows they are made by Kenny's who are definitely Minnesotan.

I wonder why they chose that particular marketing angle? Wallaby poo looks a little like black beans I guess....

@hingehead,
regional scatological candy can be a hit with the kids, tourist traps in canada (especially the north) will have bags of chocolate covered raisins labelled as moose droppings, sometimes you'll see white chocolate ones labelled as polar bear droppings

Aboriginal leader's face to gaze from high-rise

By Kathy Lord

Construction firm Grocon has unveiled plans for a new Melbourne apartment block featuring a giant 32-storey portrait of Wurundjeri leader William Barak.

Barak was a tribal elder and artist who was an influential spokesman for Aboriginal social justice. He died in 1903.

"The Wurundjeri community is very moved by this gesture and appreciates the respect that both Grocon and ARM have shown in developing this exciting concept," she said.

@dadpad,
Ooh. No 'representing dead people' backlash? I'm never sure just how that works.

So I looked it up!

I wondered about that myself. Aunty Joy and the rest of the Wurundjeri elders are pretty sensible people.
