Hey I'm new here and just looking around.
Smile
Do you have any hints or suggestions?
I used to use Abuzz and there seems to be many old Abuzzers here.
What are the differences? Is A2K better?

Any favourite (sorry, UK spellings) pages to look at?

Anyway, hello all.

McT

Hi McTag! Nice to see ya!

I really like it here, myself. Hints or suggestions, hmm. You've probably already found this:

But if not, that's my favorite way to navigate.

Welcome!

Hi McTag!

Welcome to A2K. I think that this site is great. Since I don't know your interests, all I can say is just check out the forums on the subjects of which you have an interest.

If you want to learn how to use the many features of the site, the forum Forum Help, has many tutorials that will be helpful. You may also post any question about the site that you want to learn.

One thing that we have here are Moderators and Forum Guides. They are here to be helpful, and to keep everything running smoothly and happily.

We have many members from Great Britain Ireland and Australia, so we are used to the British way of spelling. And they have gotten used to the American way!

So amble around, see what strikes your fancy, and enjoy!

Yes, welcome, McTag!

Re Abuzz and Able2Know: This site seems a bit more civilized, though one can still shout and jump around from time to time. But there's less of the ad hominem attacking going on.

(McTag... McIt. Now that's funny.)

Like the onlooker said at the suicide of the armless Quasimodo: "I don't know who he is, but his face sure rings a bell. (With apologies to Paul Reubens....)

G'day McTag and welcome!

Phoenix - be assured - we NEVER get used to the American way of spelling. We just give up on trying to correct you! Cool

I just got here from abuzz also. Nice to see so many familiar names Smile

How do I get A2K to stop spamming my Email account without giving it a fake Email address? I must be overlooking a setting in preferences somewhere... hmmm.

Thanks,

Welcome McTag and Rosborne!!

I'm not sure what you mean about the spamming, Rosborne. I'll see if I can find an answer for you.

In your profile there is an option:

"Always notify me of replies"

set this to "no"

This means in the future when you post to a topic you won't get email updates from it unless you change it.

Then go to the View your watched threads link and go to each topic there (it will be easy for you because you haven't posted to many topics).

In each topic view there are links to start or stop watching a topic.

When your list of watched topics is empty you won't be getting any email from them.

You can also disable email notification for private messages in your profile.

And if you are watching a forum there are links in the email notification to stop watching that forum.

If you need any help just ask. If need be I'll do all that for you.

BTW, changing your email address to a fake one will effectively lock you out of your account (you will have to revalidate the email and since it's fake that's not possible).

So if you need help just ask, I don't want you to get unwanted email, it just irritates you and is just more bandwidth for me to pay for. :-)
