Is anyone a fan of Kabuki theatre ? I have only seen one performance, but vividly recall the sensory experience.

I love Kabuki. I saw some performances in Tokyo a number of years ago that I will never forget. It is a unique and enriching cultural experience.

I never thought I could see Kabuki here in the states until I decided to look it up on google. There are Kabuki performances in many major cities (and in some not so major) here. I didn't go, but I would love to do so.

I now recall that I actually saw 2 performances. Both were at local colleges...those enriching institutions of higher learning! I definitely would go again & probably should start googling too.

NickFun- how fortunate to see it performed on native soil!

I've only seen it on TV, but would love to see it live.

"Kabuki Lady Macbeth": Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Shozo Sato, who has had much success with the Kabukification of various Shakespeare titles, presents this world premiere featuring Barbara Robertson as the mildly ambitious, mildly driven wife of a certain ill-fated Scottish man who would be king. March 11-May 1, Navy Pier, 800 E. Grand Ave.; 312-595-5600.

Non-traditional, but sounds interesting...
