Osso: it's three subway stops from where I live. Smile

Oh, and somewhere I have the site wherein the City of New York sells photos of addresses. (They apparently took a photo of every address in the city sometime is the 1930's. uh NYC Photos I think.

No, I may go up there anyway, just to see what I can see. It will be an adventure. And when I zip you the photos you will have something to compare. ..

Ok, it's saturday, I am home from work and off for two days.
Maybe I'll tackle my home computer scanner's ill will to me. I figured out that why it doesn't work sometimes is that my computer hasn't been entirely shut off for a long time. I think all I have to do is shut it off or reboot. Back in a bit with either another sad tale of woe, or some photos from 1949.

I'll see if this works, and if so, add a few others.

Yes, Joe.
Here's the few more - and how I wish we'd gotten a photo of all the big ships along the Hudson, and many other things.

This is facing the back of the apartment building, shot from St. Gabriel's grade school playground (don't know anyone in the photo, and I bet I took it with my Brownie camera) -

Great photos, Osso. Fun

Sorry, I've been (can you believe it?) working all week end. So here I am. We are having a get together at our apartment while you're here Beth, aren't we? I hope so. So let me know when you'd like to do it. We don't have to plan too far ahead, if you'd rather wait and decide whenever you want. Last minute will be fine, if you perfer. Berine's daughter will be visiting that week which is great news to all of us. She'll enjoy actually meeting some of our a2k friends.

Can't wait. Oh goody. Fun is coming up.

er, that is/was on Henry Hudson Parkway, Set...
what if?

It might be on HHPway Drive... I know it wasn't smack dab on the parkway. There might have been a triangular island of greenery between it and the Parkway.

Hmm, now I want to find a map.

Hy yah...

Just returned from a day of matinee theatre, early dinner and a walk through the wonderland of the lower East Side. The play was The Audience at the Connelly Theatre and I'm really sorry it closes on April 23rd because I think ehbeth would have enjoyed it. It's sad and funny and loud and very New York Theatre. The setting is this: Forty actors on a stage play an audience. All the right characters are there from the blind date couple to the four loud Jews....to the black couple who arrive late.. to the precious grandmother types in the first row. Much good singing.

Many laughs, a few tears.

Met with a few of the people after the show. (Hal Prince was rumored to be in the audience (the real one) and I caught a glimpse of him as he went by).... We are friends of the costume designer, Ms. Rohe.

Mrs. Nation and I headed out through Alphabet City and originally though about seafood but the Frutti de Mare on e 4th was packed with the earlybird eaters. (who could blame them? $10.95 for dinner?) So we wandered, looked in the window of Screaming Mimi's (vintage-- old used kicky-- clothing--) then found a spot at Serafina's on Lafayette. Good drinks, attentive service and sweetly crunchy pollo, but next time I want a table either in a corner or in the window.

We then walked, (did I tell you Mrs. N walks more than Frank?) uptown cutting back and forth through the various closing street fairs on Broadway to Midtown. Why do all street fairs have the same sausage sandwichs and underwear salespeople? It's amazing. We walked through two fairs today and it was impossible to tell the difference. Maybe it's just me.
