I shoulda known ...
Still true to an extent, but not as true as it used to be. We'll set a time for you to call before you leave. I ain't gonna let you escape without our getting together. That happened once, and once was one time too many.
Brenda Lee, famous in my immediate crowd for managing 3 or 4 posts here, has asked if she can come along to New York. Looks like it's going to be an occasionally 'more the merrier' trip.
On the upside for one-on-one schmoozing, it means she and E can hang out together while Roberta and I chat.
Which reminds me, I need to bring along my Hebonics translator ring
Not to worry, Beth. I'm fluent in English and speak Hebonically only when I'm fairly certain I'll be understood. Otherwise, what's the pernt?
Your friends are certainly welcome to join us. Don't mean to sound like I'm being difficult.
Second room is booked.
Now we just need to schmooze up mac11 and convince her that the time to be in New York is when both Walter and I will be there.
The ladies are looking forward to meeting you, Roberta. E found all of the A2K'rs she met in October 2005 quite entertaining. The bar's been set pretty high - but I think you can clear it - with feet to spare.
Got all my travel guide books. So there's all and everything now confirmed, booked, bought what I need.
Hopefully.
What're'you'sayin? Roberta is by def the bar holder.
I just muttered an audible (to no one in particular) oy gevalt. I don't which Roberta you guys are talking about, but it can't possibly be whiney, kvetchy me. On the off chance that it is yours truly, I'm gonna have start practicing being nice. (Audible laugh) I quoted this elsewhere in a2k, but it bears repeating. When my mother and I were schmoozing after a lunch get-together, I said at one point, "I'm just trying to be nice." She responded, "Don't be nice. Just be yourself."
Please, Beth. Lower your expectations and the bar. I'm not as spry as I used to be.
I'm really looking forward to meeting you and everyone else I'll be meeting.
Er, I didn't meant to put Roberta in a defensive place. It's me that thinks she is the bar handeller. handeler. handel person.

Not so much defensive as concerned about expectations. I'm just a regular person.
But I greatly appreciate, osso, your high bar positioning. Flattered too. And wondering what you were drinking when we met. Of course, we've had many non-in-person encounters as well. Don't know what you're seeing. But whatever it is, I'm glad you see it.
Roberta v Frankie as holder of the bar.
I look forward to the play-offs
kicky's a piece of toast in your toaster.
Don't know who Frankie is, but if he wants the bar holder spot, he's got it. I respectfully decline to compete.
I plan on meeting and talking. We might even have a few laughs.

Don't know who Frankie is. Should I?
I think that was a Glenlivet/rocks I had at Pierre au Tunnel (I needed it before my tripe soup...)
Frankie is Frank Apisa. I haven't met him either but would like to, quite a lot. I do think he could probably hold a bar up...
Thanks, osso, for the clarification.
A new kinda double post. I thought the first one didn't go through, so I wrote a new one and reposted. Still better than the triple play I experienced on another thread.
Pierre au Tunnel. Love dat place. Mmmmmmm.
Osso and Roberta, you must be as saddened as I was about Pierre au Tunnel's closing in 2005. At least it sounds as if it was a voluntary decision, judging from the "Dear friends" letter the owners put up on
the restaurant's website, in which they said, "Jean-Claude and I have decided to retire while we are still upright."
OH! Really??? Frank'll be interested too, as that is where he was involved in an Episode... (some of us will no doubt try to find the descriptions on some past a2k postings).
Jean Claude was quite the charmer, and I think it was his wife who worked out my getting my change from a fifty back from the bartender... (oh, I suppose I'll have to get a snippet from my NY diary here.) I liked them both.
And Bree, I wish I'd connected with you back then - as well as a bunch of others - you were on my notepad as were Joe Nation and Frank Apisa. I got involved in defending why I wouldn't be going to several nearby states (in my first trip to NY in oh, 35 years) and just zoned in - in reaction - as I could, on my gallery needs. But among the good is that I met Roberta and Diane.
As it was, Diane and I probably walked near where Joe works... (sob!)
Meantime, think positive thoughts to the New Mexico lottery, specifically re Me.

Will do, if you'll do the same for me and the NY lottery (or, as we call it where I work, the company pension plan ...)
Bree, Pierre au Tunnel closed?! Is nothing sacred?! Sorry to hear it.
Re the lottery. You can win it one week. I'll wait till it builds up and win it a month or so later. Is it a deal?
Win it by hook or by crook...
The NM lottery is muy complicato per me...
but what does that matter, in any case?
