the trouble with jesus...

Reply Thu 6 Jan, 2005 09:25 am
At least as popularly conceived...and God knows I don't want to disparage what is "popular"...in the multitude of counsellors there is safety....BUT...their "jesus" just DOESN'T WORK...

An old Charlie Brown cartoon, the little red haired girl is being hurt by a bully...and Charlie Brown the Thoughtful is stuck wringing his hands, too "divided" to ACT (he's a little Hamlet really)...but Linus, the spiritual Nut, "Oh Great Pumpkin Where Are You??", takes his SECURITY BLANKET and ZAPS THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS out of that bully..."he won't bother her again Charlie Brown"...and Charlie Brown says "great, I'm a FRIEND OF THE HERO.."

The friend of the bridegroom rejoices, when the bridegroom comes he has to go bye bye...

The deepest need of every "male" (every male that opens the MATRIX is HOLY TO THE LORD) is to BE THE HERO, not to be the friend of the hero or even to be "saved"...

And...the deepest need of every "female" is to be ADORED BY THE HERO...

And "jesus" hogs all the heroics and all the adoration...no wonder his brothers sold him into slavery...he didn't leave anything for them...

And thus "jesus" cannot be "the One"...

Anyone seen the Matrix commentaries? I'm sure not, I wouldn't have except my youngest son is such a NUT about those films...

And the Wachowski's solve the problem, making this "Saviour" a kind of group effort, but focused in Two, Neo and Trinity...Each is the Savior..and the Adorer..of the Other.

Except at the end it all boils down to Neo. He that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.

When people are not getting their needs met (my god shall supply ALL YOUR NEEDS)...those "needs" take NEUROTIC directions...or even psychotic...and religion as I have known it is a recipe for psychosis for anyone who takes it very seriously...praise god most people live by faith and not religion....the two are mutually exclusive.

You really oughta tidy this thing up a tad...and probably wait until after the buzz wears off.

This post is damn near incomprehensible.

And while you are at it...give us a passage reference for the part where Jesus' brothers sold him into slavery.

In any case, welcome to A2K.

What are you talking about, Shunammite?

What do you want to discuss about Jesus?

From the post here's what I got:

Jesus can't be "The One" because he, as the saving hero, hogs all of the adoration and therefore prevents any man from doing so and leaving the men with no women to adore them 'cause the woman are too busy adoring Jesus.

Yeah, He's a hard act to follow, but I couln't marry Jesus without choosing to be a nun. So, I got Bear.

"And "jesus" hogs all the heroics and all the adoration...no wonder his brothers sold him into slavery...he didn't leave anything for them... "

I know they both start with 'J' but I think you are confusing Jesus with Joseph.

Oops sorry I actually wrote it for a religious board where everyone knows the references.

I'm not afraid of a buzz....~smile~

Joseph who was sold into slavery is generally seen as a "type" of Christ...

It's just how I see things, if you don't like it, that's your privilege.

Jesus...the Reality is one thing...but every person only has his Peculiar Understanding to be going on with...and obviously not everyone sees the same thing...hence all the conflict this prince of peace brought into the world...and he says that's why he came, Matt 10:34-35, very like the hell on earth described in Micah 7:2-6.

I was just thinking about why people strive and struggle so much despite the finished work of a "savior"...in theory...

And I think the savior is all right, it's the theory that might need rethinking...for me anyway...if the theory works for someone else, fine.

I just know that the men in my life strive to be heroes. And I strive to be loved. And it dawned on me that the usual idea is that only Jesus is heroic and only Jesus ought to be loved...

That would be all right if "jesus" did not mean "one person who stands outside people generally"...if he receives all, there is nothing for the mass of humanity...

The first man Adam was made a living soul the Last Adam a quickening spirit...I Am...the First and the Last...

I can't be too busy on this thread till after work but bring it on, lolol...

Jesus did say: "My kingdom is not of this world".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe St. Augustine also said that the kingdom of God resides within.

Luke 17:21, "the kingdom of God is within you", that's Jesus though.

But the translators sometimes say he meant "among", referring to himself, a reference to another verse early in John, I forget.

However there are two Greek words, one can mean "in the midst" or "inside"...and another, "entos" means "inside", it's used for the dirty insides of cups in another verse.

So to me, it's pretty clear that the kingdom of God is inside of a person all right.

That's where the burnt offering takes place also..aka "hell"...wheels of fire...the word for "wheel", same as Golgotha, skull...conflict of affliction, trying to "make sense" of all the variables...if only we didn't care...but we do...it's very hard to just throw up your hands and say WHOOPPEE lolol...

At least not until there is no more breath in your body<---Matrix reference...yes Keanu, the "one", lol....

And as for "my kingdom is not of this world", well...if there is no practical application, then "jesus" would not be any "earthly good"...and we are on earth, we need help NOW...

All things that pertain to Life and Godliness...to me that speaks of Earth and Heaven, 2 Peter 1:3, we can have both...any moron can have one or the other...but Jesus can save the baby and the bathwater...

Jochebed, another "christ type" to me, Moses's mother, render to Caesar what is Caesar, unto God what is God's, well "caesar" said THROW THAT BABY IN THE NILE...and so she did...but in a basket...a tisket a tasket...lined with Pitch...slime...the same stuff Lot got all bogged down in, it saved Moses...and so Pharoah's decree against Moses in fact was the thing that elevated him...but then he had a pretty rough time after that...makes a person wonder if he WANTS to be "elevated"...

Any moron can love God...or love man..only Christ can love both.

To love the one who cannot lie and the one who cannot stop lying at the same time....I can do it, now....I understand why the liars are lying, I would do the same, in their shoes. Being afraid and weak.

shunammite...you haven't been here a real long time yet...but all the truly long term posters here are aware that God speaks to me personally on a regular basis and tells me things.

Last night (well early this morning) on the way home from the club, God told me that Jesus is going to kick your ass, and that he (God) has his back. I wouldn't want to be you.....because you are going to find out first hand about trouble with Jesus.

Kristie I wasn't asking a question, just saying what was on my mind, to see what someone else would say about it. Interesting, so far.

I guess the concisest way to sum up my point is to say that what is commonly noised about in the name of Jesus does not satisfy the real needs people have. And I don't think the fault is in Jesus but rather in what men say about him...who do men say that I am he once asked..

The real thing is satisfactory I'm sure of it. But He's hard to get a bead on...

You take things out of context too much!

When Jesus said "give to Ceaser..." he was talking about giving your soul to God and not to earthly things. To go along with that, Jesus was not sent here to satisfy our earthly needs(food, water, money, etc.), but to fufil our spiritual needs. [of Jesus does not satisfy the real needs people have] You forget that not all of our needs are material.

One thing is for certain...

...among the least Christian people on this planet...

...will be found people who profess unwaivering loyalty to Christ.

In fact, among the most vocal of the "I love Jesus" crowd...there is less Christianity than in much of the agnostic and atheist contingent of humans.

That was a roundabout way of saying...

...the trouble with Jesus...

...is, for the most part, Christianity.

Perhaps you didn't intend to write that the way you did, but it is a very true statement. There are very devout Christians out and about among the least Christian people on this planet. Those are the missionaries, those who have been called to preach the Good News to the unsaved.

You indended to write something different ........ ?
