Last year we bought a 1980 Shovelhead. My husband has had it in the shop three times for burnt plugs. Everything is new except for the motor. They replace something and it runs for a while and then it sputters and there goes another set of plugs. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? kitson321

80 shovelhead
Tried a new coil already-also tried alt. and stater. Any other ideas, needs to be re-jetted maybe? There has to be someone who has had this problem?

spark plug eater
put in new plugs, check color after a few miles of hard riding. Heat range could be off. Re-check timing; these babies can knock and you might not hear for all the normal noise!!! My 80 Low Rider has 110,000 mi and never eats plugs.

Thanks dyslexia
They had put in a coil they had to try and save my old man some money and it wasn't hot enough. Put in a new hot coil and the beauty runs great!
