A stupid question about Jesus

Reply Wed 29 Dec, 2004 06:16 pm
After the resurrection, what did Jesus do with the rest of his life?

Note: For the purposes of this question, let's assume the resurrection did happen and that Jesus is God's son and that all of the teachings of Christianity are true and not get into all of that "did" "didn't" "did so" "did not" stuff.

Thank you!

If I remember correctly, he got a job selling little carved boats. He died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 97.

He went and hung- out with them apostle dudes fer a while, made a monkey outta Thomas . . . then, after 40 days of hammerin' home the message them boys would pervert and forget, he was translated directly to the right hand of god the father, via celestial elevator . . .

I haven't read the story at all. If I do start it I promise I will finish it, BPBear.

<Jeez. You're worse that Mrs. Maxwell>

How long was a "little"?

Read Acts of the Apostles, Boomer. According to that worthy sequel to the Gospels, he was taken up into Heaven after 40 days of preaching. (Acts 1: 1-11.)

except it was a celestial escalator....this is a point biblical scholars have argued for years....the escatorial ascension versus the elevatial ascension....

No, you're right about the boats, you know, "fisher of men" and all that song and dance . . . you're just way off on the age . . .

No, that might have been his day job, Gus. You're wrong only about the age of 97.

Gosh! You guys are fast!

Thank you.

40 days wasn't much of a reprieve.

Does 40 days have some signifigance? It obviously figures prominantly in several bible stories.

Gus, was that his job in Heaven? Then he died again? Is he some kind of cat or something?

He sets on the right hand of God...I'm sure he's still setting there.

I do recall a passage, I believe it was in Corinthians, where Paul or Bill or one of those apostle guys said, "You knoweth, that Jesus is one cool cat"

I've heard it said that 40 days and 40 nights is a period of time used in whatever language because there was no word for "a long time". So 40 days and 40 nights is the "word" they use for that. But this was from a bible rationalizer. So who knows.

40 days and 40 nights was an expression in those days that meant "Nobody's exactly sure how long it was, but it was a little while.....
