As crunchy as possible - and none of our brands are on the poll.

I like the stuff you grind yourself in the health food shops, too.

Cashew and almond and hazelnut paste are fabulous, too.

Crunchy, usually, though sometimes smooth is good if you've got really good honey.

Crunchy with apples. mmmmm

Don't know those brands. They's not canajun.

Did you roll them by hand and stick them in the fridge for a while? We used to do that (I think there was evaporated milk in our recipe) and we called them refridgerator cookies.

Seems to me we did, littlek.

What about this one Gus?

I am positive there weren't nuts or coconut in the recipe, colorbook.

I'm pretty sure it was peanut butter, honey, wheat germ and one or two other ingredients.

Guess I'll have to call my mom and ask her.

Gus dear... Gussie?

We called those "Vitamin Balls"

The recipe was easy -- 1 cup honey, 1 cup peanut butter, 1/2 cup wheat germ, 1 cup soymilk powder, 1/2 cup carob powder and 1 cup sesame seeds.

You mix them all together... separate into bite-size pieces and chill. Don't you remember, dear? We stored them in air-tight containers and then we'd take them back-packing.

They were all the rage in the 60's.

Yes, there are lots of openings there, but unfortunatly we can't touch them beause you said "lots of openings there." In short, you beat us to the punch, so now it is going to languish in the A2K archives, unscathed, forever.

Please be more considerate in the future with your posts.

Soymilk powder? I don't think so. And definitely no carob powder or sesame seeds.

But that recipe sounds like it has potential.

Thanks, Piffka.

I like chunky, but smooth is fine too. I buy it in bulk at the health food store, where they also sell a bunch of fancy nut butters. I've found that with almonds, pecans, or macadamia nuts, it's cheaper to just make the butter myself.

I found the recipe! It's fairly complicated. I have my doubts if even Cavfancier could stand up to this challenge....

Peanut Butter Balls

1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup honey
3/4 cup wheat germ
3/4 cup powdered milk

You may be right. What is this 'powdered milk' you speak of?

This, uh, chick I was friends with used to make these peanut butter and chocolate squares. They were awesome. So good I'd punch myself in the nuts.

I really miss, those peanut butter treats.

What a nice story. You should share more than you do, so the rest of us can learn.

Paula, you would like to hear more about me punching myself in the nuts, yes?

This one time, I was walking. And walking. It was summer, and hot out. I was wicked thirsty, so I stopped at 7-11 to pick me up a mad bottle of Gatordae.

That first sip was so tasty and thirst quenching, I punched myself in the nuts.

Oh well... I tried. Cool

Soymilk, powdered or not, sounds gross to me, too, and also the carob powder.

I never could figure out what anyone would want carob powder when chocolate was right there.
