i agree although i liked the rotk then fotr and then least ttt. but they are all great. and they are far from boring.
Actually, I always believed TTT was the best book but Jackson did some major shuffling around, presumably for cinematic purposes, making ROTK the grand finale. I'm sure the same people who find the movies boring would find the books boring. It doesn't in the least affect the stature of the films as a cinematic achievement we will not soon see duplicated.
