Between Cities A and B, two buses are operating at T (minutes) time intervals at same speeds from A and B. A cyclist travelling from A to B with a speed of 20 m/s, sees a bus passing him towards B every 18 minutes, and in the opposite direction another bus passing every 6 minutes. Find T and the speed of the bus?

@senakaS,
Are you sure there are only two buses?

@senakaS,
After much messing with signs I get T=9 min and V =40 m/s

The buses are VT apart. Going towards B, the bike is going at 20-V relative to the buses and he is passed in 18 x 60 sec. So VT=(V-20) x 18 x 60
In the other direction VT= (20 +V) x 6 x 60 whence V= 40 and T =9

@senakaS,
Its probably easier to think of the bike as stationary being passed by 'a train' VT long going at (V-20) one way and (V+20) the other way.
