@CalamityJane,
It's men's talk Cal. I wouldn't bother about it if I had your qualifications.

I'm thinking of writing a post on the evolution thread about what you said about scientists being nerds.

Is it alright if I quote you on the subject. I can just as easily quote you as "one of A2K's more intelligent ladies".

@littlek,
Re a crusty old post by littlek -

I do too, and I don't even like beer. But I've read about Sam Calagione and the starting and development of Dogfish, and would hoist a glass if I were anywhere in that neighborhood.

@ossobuco,
Dogfish Head beer is just tourist crap. I tasted their 90 minute IPA and its like drinking Mr Clean. It has a terrible cloying taste that comes across as chemically laced. Much of their other beers Ive sipped small glasses just for curiosity and it reinforced my revulsion of a lot of these crafty beers.
They make that **** in a little town called Milton Delaware, its about 7 miles from where we sometime hang out.

On beer: If at all possible get Hopslam from Bells brewery. Only available a couple months a year and is quite possibly the best beer I have ever had.

Spoken like a true hophead ... How does it compare to Sierra Nevada Torpedo? I assume it's hoppier?

Hi everone! Yep still have the weekend home in Mi.

@Tico I haven't even seen the SN Tornado but it is very hopppy. I was looking for a clone recipe to try to make my own batch and this is the hop schedule.

3.00 oz Simcoe [13.00 %] (Dry Hop 3 days) Hops -
1.00 oz Amarillo Gold [8.50 %] (Dry Hop 3 days) Hops -
1.00 oz Amarillo Gold [8.50 %] (40 min) Hops 20.2 IBU
1.00 oz Simcoe [13.00 %] (40 min) Hops 30.9 IBU
0.50 oz Glacier [5.60 %] (20 min) Hops 4.6 IBU
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50 %] (20 min) Hops 9.0 IBU
0.50 oz Vanguard [5.50 %] (15 min) Hops 3.7 IBU
1.00 oz Glacier [5.60 %] (1 min) Hops 0.7 IBU
1.00 oz Cascade [5.50 %] (1 min) Hops 0.6 IBU
1.00 oz Simcoe [13.00 %] (1 min) Hops 1.5 IBU
1.00 oz Centennial [10.00 %] (1 min) Hops 1.2 IBU

My first batch of IPA got 5 Oz of hops and was in the area of a Stone IPA

@sublime1,
The SN Torpedo is awesome ... Right now I like it over the Stone IPA, and that's saying something.

@farmerman,
I can't test this out, don't know that they have Dogfish beer anywhere around here, but appreciate your take. I liked Lost Coast Brewery beers, and Red Tail Ale (Mendocino Brewing Company), but I'm no connoisseur. Also like a half bottle of several Mexican beers about twice a year. Haven't chugged beer since.. um, 1975, when the theater group and ex and I went out to a local place. Diane and I split a bottle of ---------- (forget name, but the name was why we picked it) at a local burger and beer place. That was tasty.

@Ticomaya,
I will look for that, you should try Hop Stoopid by Lagunitas or Hop Juice from Two Brothers if you come across it.
It has come to a point where I am almost exclusively drinking IPA's.

When I was in New York in January, I tried Brooklyn Lagar. It had a distinct taste. Later I have found this beer is brewed from malt and hop without cornstarch.

There seems to be a dogfish head 60-minute ale shortage. I am drinking Smuttynose's Shoals Pale Ale in the meantime.
