need a place for vacation within 6 hours drive of new york

Hi, I am looking for a place my husband and I can go for a long weekend, about 5-6 hours drive from New York City. (I am pregnant so no plane travel) We have already been to Boston and Portland, so these two are out. We both love to experience new restaurants and shopping.

Oh. Well, Cape May does have lots of restaurants and shopping -- though mostly antiques if I remember correctly.

Philadelphia's got a surprising amount of stuff on the go in terms of restaurants and, certainly, American historical sites.
