Description: Painting of two swans on the water surrounded by trees; painting has an old golden wood frame and was signed by an artist named S G Morley.
The previous owner told me he got the painting through a storage auction a while ago and decided to get rid of it as he is not into arts however I'm assuming that if someone decided to keep and store the painting maybe it could be worth something interesting? Painting and frame are in really good condition.
I have found some information regarding an S G Morley on google. Those searches always points on a Sylvanus Griswold Morley which was a renowned American archaeologist (made extensive excavations of the Maya site of Chichen Itza -
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sylvanus_Morley )
but nothing indicating that he might have done paintings unless it was a hobby?
Some other links pointed an other S G Morley but this one from England with some paintings selling through Sotheby's website. As we know, archeologists travel a lot...could those two be the same person after all?
Thank you all for your help.
