One useful little habit I've picked up recently to help me switch off my very busy little brain is listening to a talking book when I hit the bed & turn off the light. Believe me, it works like a dream!
(I have this little portable cd/cassette player next to my bed.) The local library is a good source of talking books. My favourite so far has been Cloudstreet (Tim Winton). If this not sleeping thing is a constant problem for you (like it was for me) I thoroughly recommend this. It slows a galloping brain better than anything else I've tried.
