Ok, Our "good" tv broke down, and we can't afford to buy a new one just yet so unfortunatly we are using an older tv.....hey, at least it works. The problem is, my bf got a dvd player for an early christmas present and we can't hook it up. It doesn't have a coaxl cable on it, and the tv doesn't have video plugs, is there any way we can use the thing? Can we hook it up through our vcr, or our digital cable box, or any other way?
Yep. Cable box will work.
I'm gonna run outside and smoke a joint while I check on my emu, standup.
I'll check back in when I get back and see if you've figured this out.
Well hurry up and feed your emu, cause I need help!!!! Hehe.....
standup, I took this from a site, because I am too stoned to write a coherent reply right now....
if you're bound and determined to hook up a DVD player to your older TV set, you can probably do it. If your TV set provides a cable TV-style (that is, coaxial) connector, you can probably connect the cables that come with the DVD player to your TV through a device called an RF modulator, which you can buy for $20 to $30. And by the way, you might think you could get around this problem by connecting your DVD player to a VCR that is in turn connected to a TV, but this is usually a bad idea: the video and/or audio you get when you play a DVD with this setup is likely to be unsatisfactory.
Damn...now you're sayin' I gotta spend money.......
I don't think it works - at least it didn't work for me.
I had bought a code free DVD player and my TV was
quite old, so the cables from the DVD just didn't match
the TV cables.
So, I had to buy a new TV.
Can't you just hook your dvd player into the input on the vcr?
Jesus, and I thought, I had no idea.
You're far worse gustav.
It works, CJ.
Assuming you have the right type VCR

Which part of that confused you, CJ?
The copy protection built into DVD's screws with the picture if you feed the signal through a VCR. You need an adapter to go from the DVD plugs to the TV.
You confuse me gustav!
First you said

and then later you asked this

Remember, he did say he was stoned!!!!
Oh, I forgot, thanks for reminding me standup
God knows what kraut he's smoking.
The RF modulaotr can be found at Walmart or some other place. You will need one to do what you want.
