well, this crowd apparently isn't ready for the future of Soap Consumption.

i shall continue my soap-cloning experiments -- for Science -- but you folks will certainly not be privy to my findings...

I remember having my mouth washed out with soap - Lux handbar.

Long time ago. Can't remember why.

When I had skin cancer I started bathing and washing my hair with borax.

I have very dry skin and my doctor prescribes this stuff which is soap-free and antibacterial:

@edgarblythe,
Ed
Can you share how you do this?

Isn't borax a powder? Do you make a paste? Mix with anything?

@PUNKEY,
Mix in very hot water, not necessarily boiling. I use an opaque plastic bottle. I try to keep a little undissolved in the bottom. Each time I use some, I add hot water to bring up the level and as needed add more powder. I used to wash my clothes this way too. The instructions for bathing with borax suggests not to leave it on the skin for a long time. Rinses off with plain water. Takes a little experimenting to get what you feel comfortable with.

In Britain, if you are over 60, you get your prescription medication for free.

It used to be. It was used as an antiseptic for minor burns or cuts, or as a treatment for acne. It sometimes used in salves and dressings, such as boracic lint. and in some soap preparations. My wife (who works in a hospital pharmacy) says it is very old-fashioned nowadays, mainly due to some side effects (toxic to children!) and the better products now available. She says she was given borax eye baths as a kid when she had styes.

@centrox,
Was is the key word.
There are some who believe in drinking minute amounts. I forgot the procedure.
