Somebody said people like me would be offended by this film, I think - well, I am way sad, cos I wasn't.
I did enjoy the damn thing, though.
Got a bit dull in parts, with all the hopeless soapy movie spoofs - but the marionette sex was great (especially with all the joints, and the no dangly bits) and the Kim Il Sung stuff was great - especially "I'm So Wonely")
hey - I love South park - though I get bored with it if I watch it often.
The "pussies, assholes and dicks" stuff was hilarious - especially when they got down to the geography of the concept....
So - does this mean there's something really wrong with me?
What did you think of the film????
Hadn't planned on seeing it until the DVD but perhaps we had some other A2Kers who have seen it (I do remember somewhere on the boards that someone had seen it).
Lol - looks lik enot many have - or if they have, they prefer not to talk about it!
I did get a chance to chat about it last night - but only with a friend of mine one of whose kids had seen it. The kid loved it! He is a politically fairly sophisticated older teen.
I guess so! I wouldn't recommend it to any mother or father to send their teen off to see from what I've read in the reviews. Have you tried IMDb for user ratings and
www.rottentomatoes.com for reviews?
"Team America" on IMDb -- the user written reviews are enlightening:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0372588/
I thought liberals would hate it because they blow up such liberal icons as Micheal Moore, Alec Baldwin, Janeane Garafalo and Sean Penn.
(OK, some may have met other hilarious deaths--but somebody got blown up. I like the politics and humor of these two degraded guys.)
I want to see it! Looks funny!
Which liberals call Michael Moore, Alec Baldwin, Janeane Garafalo and Sean Penn icons?
(I like Janeane just fine, certainly wouldn't call her an icon, but the rest are whatever to blech.)
Lol Lash - I thought righties would hate it cos it lampoons the whole idea of a fatally clumsy and stupid America thinking itself a world cop!
Point is, it lampoons EVERYONE.
I may or may not watch it. Don't really care so far.
I was peeved cos I couldn't get anyone else to come with me.
It is a companionate film.
Satirizing or lampooning all politicians and pundits can be a good thing. If one misses the main point and goes to who should or should not appreciate the movie because of political bent, get thee to FOX.
Hilarious when they laugh at the puppetry itself - like when the blondw woman reaches out to put her finger to the hero's lips - and keeps missing!!! Heeheee..... Poked him in the eye, she did.
Actually, the whole Alex Baldwin thing was boring to me - I appear to have missed some sort of cultish thing?
Or - did they just invent it?

Yeah. That IS the point. Most movies only lampoon conservatives. It was shocking to see someone actually give liberals the same treatment.
Nonsense -- conservatives are too boring to lampoon. What particular movie lampoons only conservatives?
Every uptight boss, every corrupt politician; if there is a political reference to a character that is portrayed negatively--they are a Republican.
As I remember them, I'll be back.
I remember them all. Good stuff.
Good luck, Lash. Remember, we're talking comedy lampoon or satire. If it's about a real person who was an asshole like "Nixon," it doesn't shake.
