I guess someone's already pointed this out that the
Summer of Love was in 1967, not 1969.
Well, I was 16 at the time, and I have memories of that era in the 60s, like so many others, although, I was not a hippy and have never taken any drugs of any kind.
I had a friend who was into LSD, and messed himself up pretty good. Very sad.

I was very much into the music of the 1960s, and still think some of the best stuff was produced in this decade. I also remember the night that BVT is quoting. Quite magical, it seemed.
In latter years, looking back at the 60s decade, I still wonder if it was really all that great, or was it just a lot of hype? I look back at it with teenage eyes, and part of my upbringing, and hard to separate myself objectively.
I suspect that, like a lot of other things that occur in other, and subsequent decades, that there was a lot of hype involved, and perhaps no different than other generations.
Younger folks must get sick of hearing from us older types how things, like the music, was better than it is today. I'm no longer convinced that it was, despite my fondness of the times.
Afterall, people who's favourite decade was in the 30s, 40s, or 50s, maybe say the same thing?
