What do you mean, used to? Very Happy

Hey, Boo. Just found one Carol King song that I know. This goes way back to John's query:

Tonight you're mine completely
You give your love so sweety
Tonight the light of love is in your eyes
But will you love me tomorrow

Is this a lasting treasure
Or just a moment's pleasure
Can I believe the magic of your sighs
Will you still love me tomorrow

Tonight with words unspoken
You said that I'm the only one
But will my heart be broken
When the night (when the night)
Meets the morning (meets the morning) sun

I'll like to know that your love
Is love I can be sure of
So tell me now and I won't ask again
Will you still love me tomorrow
Will you still love me tomorrow
Will you still love me tomorrow

Now, I'm gonna do Diana Krall

I can't give you anything but love, baby
That's the only thing I've plenty of, baby
Dream awhile scheme awhile,
You're sure to find,
Happiness and I guess,
All those things you've always pined for.
Gee it's nice to see you lookin' swell, baby
Diamond bracelets Woolworth wouldn't sell, baby.
But til that lucky day you know darn well, baby.
I Can't give you anything but love.

See? She did the old ones, but you did say the 90's..heh heh

You Devil you. Go'on with yo' bad self. Very Happy I just came across my Diane Krall CD, and put it in rotation. BTW, it seems to me, the decade, with the greatest dearth of creativity , is the 80's, what do you think?

John, speaking of birds, Englebert Humperdinck did a song that was a direct steal from an old family song. The name of his song was "I Don't Have a Wooden Heart." The name of the song we sang to my daughter was "Cages of Wire":

There are cages of wire in a dark city store,
Locked in the cages are songsters by score.
And they're trilling there like birds of air
That fly up high in the sky.

But they never have known how it looks in the spring.
Out in the fields where the wildwood birds all sing.

Good grief. Where did that come from? Shocked

Going back on this thread a wee bit . . .

Yes, songs about rain are plentiful. My favorite is that anthem of freedom entitled "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" from the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

"Because I'm free,
Nothin's worryin' me."

Raindrops song and I was forever having to turn my bike around.

John, Englebert had too many teeth for practical purposes Smile Raindrops and bikes, huh? Good thing we live in a world with indoor plumbing. Laughing

B.J. Thomas is correct!

Gene Kelly also immortalized a form of precipitation in "Singin' in the Rain," (from the film classic of the same name).

I can't recall who made a hit out of "Raining in My Heart."

Oh, misery, misery.
What's going to become of me?
I tell my dreams they musn't show,
But that was true so long ago.
Now, it's raining, raining in my heart.

I would add Wayne Newton and Pat Boone to your "smarmy" definition.
