I propose a new game! And it goes like this... A famous line from a movie is shared. The next person has to name the character and movie, and then share another line... and so on. Shall we try it? Here's my first line:

"Now, youse can't leave!"

@snood,
I am guessing (a fancy way of bookmarking) the Joe Pesci character, who I believe is named Tommy, in Goodfellas.

@jespah,
Ok, this raises one way we'll have to tweak the game - in case of incorrect answers. Let's say if after two tries no right answer, the person who originally posted the line reveals the answer and shares another line. So, that's one swing and miss at my first line! Someone try again!

The Jude Law hitman character in Road to Perdition.

I'm not a smart man, but I know what love is.

@izzythepush,
Okay, maybe this game was one of those things that seems a lot better when it's just in your head. I see the weaknesses in the concept now - not the least of which is that for it to flow, we'd have to have seen the same movies enough to know the lines.

That last one, Izzy? I had to google it -man, that's off the beaten path!

So, I guess we can 86 this thread. I meant well!

@snood,
I've been sort of following since I had years of mad movie watching in theaters, the art type that showed movies from a lot of the world over a lot of the 20th century. And then I stopped, busy in other ways, so I'm a recent movie dummy.
More than recent, getting to be more lengthy than recent.

Interesting concept, even though it fizzled.

@snood,
Withnail and I is very well known over here. I wouldn't go for obscure stuff. It's well worth seeing. This is the line in question.

@izzythepush,
I would venture that there's a bit of difference between what's popular here and there.

@snood,
I liked the game, but don't see enough popular movies to participate.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks Ed. I guess I was thinking everyone was a moviephile like me.

@snood,
Well yes, but the bit seems bigger than I'd thought.

Btw, Withnail and I is a brilliantly funny film.
