American Servicemen Wearing Dogtags

I believe American servicemen had to wear dogtags (e.g., P for Protestants; H for Hebrew). If a Jewish soldier was captured by the Germans, was he treated differently than others?

By and large they received worse treatment from the Germans than their non-Jewish brethren.
