Up to the mid-sixties, "beat bands" where still playing live in discotheks in e.g. Bournemouth. That changed (there) from 1967/8 onwards.

My baby moves at midnight
Goes right on till the dawn
My woman takes me higher
My woman keeps me warm

What you doin' on your back aah
What you doin'on your back aah?
You should be dancing, yeah
Dancing, yeah

She's juicy and she's trouble
She gets it to me good
My woman gives me power
Goes right down to my blood

What you doin' on your back aah
What you doin'on your back aah?
You should be dancing, yeah
Dancing, yeah

My baby moves at midnight
Goes right on till the dawn
My woman takes me higher
My woman keeps me warm

What you doin' on your back aah
What you doin'on your back aah?
You should be dancing, yeah
Dancing, yeah
You should be dancing, yeah
You should be dancing, yeah
You should be dancing, yeah
You should be dancing, yeah
You should be dancing, yeah

McTag, that is a fabulous picture, but do any of you notice that he looks a wee bit timid? No, not the elephant. <smile>

Hey, Walter. Great midnight song, buddy. Good to see you back in our studio, Germany.

And now for the kids(including McTag)

Artist Toy Dolls
Album Unknown
Song Nelly The Elephant

To Bombay
A travelling circus came
They brought an intelegent elephant
and Nellie was her name

One dark night
she slipt her iron chain, and off she ran
to Hindustan and was never seen again

oooooooooooooooooo...
Nellie the elephant packed her trunk and
said goodbye to the circus
of she road with a trumety trump
trump trump trump

Nellie the elephant packed her trunk
and trumbled of to the jungle
of she road with a thrumety trump
trump trump trump

Night by night she danced to the circus band
When Nellie was leading the big parade she looked
so proud and grand

No more tricks for Nellie to perform
They taught her how to take a bow and she tooked
to crowd by storm

oooooooooooooooooo...
Nellie the elephant packed her trunk and
said goodbye to the circus
of she rode with a trumety trump
trump trump trump

Nellie the elephant packed her trunk
and trumbled off to the jungle
of she road with a thrumety trump
trump trump trump

The head of the heard was calling far far away
they meet one night in silver light
on the road to Mandaley

oooooooooooooooooo...
Nellie the elephant pack her trunk and
said goodbye to the circus
of she road with a trumety trump
trump trump trump

Nellie the elephant packed her trunk
and trumbled off to the jungle
of she road with a thrumety trump
trump trump trump.

There's no disguising that body language...(we had only just been introduced, and I confess it did occur to me that the beast could easily pull my head off if it felt so inclined....)

some tunes by the pet shop boys

SUBURBIA

Lost in the high street, where the dogs run
Roaming suburban boys
Mother's got a hairdo to be done
She says they're too old for toys
Stood by the bus stop with a felt pen
In this suburban hell
And in the distance a police car
To break the suburban spell

Let's take a ride, and run with the dogs tonight
In Suburbia
You can't hide, run with the dogs tonight
In Suburbia

Break the window by the town hall
Listen, the siren screams
There in the distance, like a roll call
Of all the suburban dreams

Let's take a ride, and run with the dogs tonight
In Suburbia
You can't hide, run with the dogs tonight
In Suburbia

I only wanted something else to do but hang around
I only wanted something else to do but hang around
I only wanted something else to do but hang around
I only wanted something else to do but hang around

It's on the front page of the papers
This is their hour of need
Where's a policeman when you need one
To blame the colour TV?

Let's take a ride, and run with the dogs tonight
In Suburbia
You can't hide, run with the dogs tonight
In Suburbia

Take a ride, and run with the dogs tonight
In Suburbia
You can't hide, run with the dogs tonight
In Suburbia

Run with the dogs tonight
In Suburbia
You can't hide
In Suburbia
In Suburbia
In Suburbia
In Suburbia
In Suburbia

WHERE THE STREETS HAVE NO NAME/CAN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF YOU

(Burning down love)
(Burning down love)

I want to run, I want to hide
I want to break down the walls that hold me inside
I want to reach out, and touch the flame
Where the streets have no name
Ah-ha-ah

I want to feel the sun on my face
I see the dust cloud disappear without a trace
I want to take shelter from poison rain
Where the streets have no name
Ah-ha-ah

Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
We're still building, then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there
I go there with you
Where the streets have no name
Can't take my eyes off of you

I love you, baby, and if it's quite alright
I need you, baby, to warm a lonely night
So let me love you, baby
Let me love you

The city's aflood, our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind, trampled in dust
I'll show you a place, high on a desert plain
Where the streets have no name
Ah-ha-ah

Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
We're still building, then burning down love
Burning down love
And when I go there
It's all I can do
Where the streets have no name
I can't take my eyes off of you

(Ooh aah)
Love you, baby, let me love you
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name

DJ CULTURE

(Attention! Attention!
Trente-neuf, quarante)

Imagine a war which everyone won
Permanent holiday in endless sun
Peace without wisdom, one steals to achieve
Relentlessly, pretending to believe
Attitudes are materialistic, positive or frankly realistic
Which is terribly old-fashioned, isn't it?
Or isn't it?

(DJ Culture) Dance with me
(DJ Culture) Let's pretend
Living in a satellite fantasy
Waiting for the night to end
(DJ Culture DJ D)

Let's pretend we won a war
Like a football match, ten-nil the score
Anything's possible, we're on the same side
Or otherwise on trial for our lives
I've been around the world for a number of reasons
I've seen it all, the change of seasons
And I, my Lord, may I say nothing?

(DJ Culture) Dance with me
(DJ Culture) Let's pretend
Living in a satellite fantasy
Waiting for the night to end (DJ Culture)
(DJ Culture) Dance with me
(DJ Culture) Let's pretend
Living in a satellite fantasy
Wondering who's your friend (DJ Culture)

Now as a matter of pride
Indulge yourself, your every mood
No feast-days, or fast-days, or days of abstinence intrude

Consider for a minute who you are (consider/who you are)
What you'd like to change, never mind the scars (change)
Bury the past, empty the shelf (bury the past)
Decide it's time to reinvent yourself (it's time)
Like Liz before Betty, she after Sean
Suddenly you're missing, then you're reborn
And I, my Lord, may I say nothing?

(DJ Culture) (UNE FOIX!)
(DJ Culture) (DEUX FOIS!)
Living in a satellite fantasy
Waiting for the night to end (DJ Culture)
(DJ Culture) Dance with me
(DJ Culture) Let's pretend
Living in a satellite fantasy
Wondering who's your friend (DJ Culture)
(DJ Culture) And I, my Lord, (Une foix!)
(DJ Culture) May I say nothing? (Deux fois!)
Living in a satellite fantasy
Waiting for the night to end (DJ Culture)

(Attention! Attention! Attention! Attention!)

You know, folks, our dj comes up with the most interesting mixture of tunes, right?

The song you played , "Where the Streets Have no Name" and "Can't take my eyes off you" was really good, and that song by DJ culture was odd, but extremely ear catching. <smile>

More coincidences, folks? I just read this evening about Boy George having his trial delayed in New York, and here our dj was doing a song of a different type. Can you make that connection, listeners?

Still searching for Boo's request with no luck. Perhaps someone else can find it.

Hmmm. I wonder if our Boo meant this one:

This is the end of a beautiful friendship,
It ended a moment ago.
This is the end of a beautiful friendship,
I know,
'cause your eyes told me so.

We've always been
Like sister and brother,
Until tonight,
When we looked at each other.

That was the end of a beautiful friendship,
And just the beginning of love.

~interlude~

That was the end of a beautiful friendship,
And just the beginning of love!

Letty must say goodnight now:

WHEN THE DARK COMES DOWN

WHEN the dark comes down, oh, the wind is on the sea
With lisping laugh and whimper to the red reef's threnody,
The boats are sailing homeward now across the harbor bar
With many a jest and many a shout from fishing grounds afar.
So furl your sails and take your rest, ye fisher folk so brown,
For task and quest are ended when the dark comes down.

When the dark comes down, oh, the landward valleys fill
Like brimming cups of purple, and on every landward hill
There shines a star of twilight that is watching evermore
The low, dim lighted meadows by the long, dim-lighted shore,
For there, where vagrant daisies weave the grass a silver crown,
The lads and lassies wander when the dark comes down.

When the dark comes down, oh, the children fall asleep,
And mothers in the fisher huts their happy vigils keep;
There's music in the song they sing and music on the sea,
The loving, lingering echoes of the twilight's litany,
For toil has folded hands to dream, and care has ceased to frown,
And every wave's a lyric when the dark comes down.

From Letty with love

Good morning, WA2K listeners and contributors.

It's not typical weather here in my little studio, and actually cold. After coffee, I shall return with a matin.

and, folks, a good morning song:

"Des'ree Cool Morning lyrics"

When the sun met the moon,
it was for the very first time.
Said the moon to the sun,
where have you been all my life?
Though we come from too different
worlds and we see things so differently.
Moon you light up my sky, sun breathe life into me.
All my life. All my life.

Cool morning, sun and the moon in the sky.
Dancing together. Are you?
Cool evening, beauty makes me wanna cry.

When the sun met the moon,
it was for the very last time.
Said the moon to the sun, please don't cry.
Though we come from too different
worlds and we see things so differently.
Sun you light up my sky. Moon breathe life into me.
Let's fly. Let's fly

Starting this day off with a lovely morning song I never heard before from Letty. I like that one.

Good day to all.

Today:

2005 - New York City's Transport Workers' Union 100 goes on strike, shutting down all New York City Subway and Bus services.

(That's a crying shame. )

Hey, Raggedy. I was just looking for a song for the morning and ran across that one. I love it!

Yes, PA, it is a terrible thing to strike and shut down everything, especially during the holidays.

Incidentally, listeners. Out McTag is giving us a tour of his Indian Odyssey. Beautiful photos, so follow his thread.
