Diane thanks for the salutation
Yes, I have been a Newbie for ages it seemsÂ….I have been posting on a Classical Music board for going on 11 years now, but I stumbled upon A2K in 2003, posted a few things I've written and here I am again
Letty, Firesign Theater was a comedy troupe that made records in the early 70's.. with titles like "Don't crush that dwarf, hand me the pliers"
I mentioned them, because in my commercial, I used a smattering of their material and as a writer by trade I am loath to suffer plagiarists, least of all myself

Thanks, tcb. Usually our listeners and contributors cite the original author of songs, poems, etc. No problem with plagiarism.

Thank you, folks, for maintaining our radio format.

I do love his eyes.

That's sort of a weird expression in that picture, Letty. He actually has a very expressive face...crinkles around the eyes, lines. More maturity than his age would indicate. I am anxious to see him in this role.

And Dys...yes, your baby blues are quite memorable, too.

I think he'll make a great James, everyone.

I need to find a Jame Bond song that will match those baby blues. Razz

Bet Yit or dj, has one. As for me, I like "Nobody does it better" and "Live and Let Die."

Back later while I look for the cd.

letty : you might recall that a few days ago we posted some "coffee" songs here(java jive etc).
johann sebastian bach is known as a very serious composer and musician, but he also must have had a twinkle in his eyes when composed the "coffee cantata" . coffee had not been known very well in jsb's days; it's consumption was actually discouraged in germany at that time ... to no avail ... even jsb got hooked by the "vile" drink ...
-----------------------------------------------------------

Johann Sebastian Bach: Coffee Cantata

Johann Sebastian Bach once wrote a Coffee Cantata, a humorous one-act operetta about a stern father's attempt to check his daughter Betty's indulgence of coffee. Among the lyrics? "Dear father, don't be so strict! If I can't have my little demitasse of coffee three times a day, I'm just like a dried up piece of roast goat!"

[Trivia: "Coffee falls into your stomach, and straightway there is a general commotion," Honore de Balzac wrote in The Pleasures and Pains of Coffee. "Ideas begin to move like the battalions of the Grand Army of the battlefield, and the battle takes place. Things remembered arrive at full gallop, ensuing to the wind. The light cavalry of comparisons deliver a magnificent deploying charge, the artillery of logic hurry up with their train and ammunition, the shafts of with start up like sharpshooters.Similes arise, the paper is covered with ink; for the struggle commences and is concluded with torrents of black water, just as a battle with powder."]

Bach, Johann Sebastian (1685-1750) German composer and organist of the late Baroque period [noted for such works as his many cantatas, the Mass in B minor (1733–1738), the Saint Matthew Passion (1729), the six Brandenburg Concertos, and numerous works for organ, harpsichord, other solo instruments, and chamber ensembles]

hamburger, I can't believe it. Here you are with one of the three B's and I just posted a Where Am I Place where you have been.

Bond and Bach. Not a bad duo, eh? <smile>

Here's for the Bond people:

Artist: Carley Simon
Words by: Carol Bayer Sager
Music by: Marvin Hamlisch

Nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it half as good as you
Baby, you're the best

I wasn't lookin' but somehow you found me
I tried to hide from your love light
But like heaven above me
The spy who loved me
Is keepin' all my secrets safe tonight

And nobody does it better
Though sometimes I wish someone could
Nobody does it quite the way you do
Why'd you have to be so good?

The way that you hold me
Whenever you hold me
There's some kind of magic inside you
That keeps me from runnin'
But just keep it comin'
How'd you learn to do the things you do?

Oh, and nobody does it better
Makes me feel sad for the rest
Nobody does it half as good as you
Baby, baby, darlin', you're the best

Baby you're the best
Darlin', you're the best
Baby you're the best

(FADE)

Oh, oh, oh!

and from Bach:

Jesu, joy of man's desiring
Holy wisdom, love most bright

Drawn by Thee, our souls aspiring
Soar to uncreated light

Word of God, our flesh that fashioned
With the fire of life impassioned
Striving still to truth unknown
Soaring, dying round Thy throne

Notes: Originally by Johann Sabastian Bach
The original song continues with these words:
Through the way where hope is guiding
Hark, what peaceful music rings
Where the flock, in Thee confiding
Drink of joy from deathless springs
Theirs is beauty's fairest pleasure
Theirs is wisdom's holiest treasure
Thou dost ever lead Thine own
In the love of joys unknown

I finally learned to play that on piano, and Bud learned to bow his bass. Alas, I have fallen behind in my promise to someone to learn that

Daniel Craig is an interesting choice. He seems much more rugged than his predessessors. Does anyone else detect a bit of a bad boy? Love bad boys, I do.

He also looks quite young, but then, I am quit old; certainly not too old to appreciate a good looking man. LOL

Those eyes hold a close second to Dys's baby blues.

Indeed we should, Osso. But let's not call him a scalywag nor a carpet bagger, just a bad boy. <smile>

Artist: Inner Circle Lyrics
Song: Bad Boys Lyrics

Bad boys, bad boys whatcha want
Whatcha gonna do
When sherrif John Brown come for you
Tell me whatcha gonna do
Bad boys bad boys
Watcha gonna do, whatcha gonna do
When they come for you
Bad boys, bad boys
Watcha gonna do, watcha gonna do
When they come for you

When yoiu were eight
And you had bad traits
You go to school and you learn the golden rule
So why are you acting like a bloody fool
If you get hot you must get cool

Bad boys, bad boys
Watcha gonna do whatcha gonna do
When they come for you (repeat)

You chuck it on this one
You chuck it on this one
You chuck it on mother and
You chuck it on you father
You chuck it on you brother and
You chuck it on you sister
You chuck it on that one and you chuck it on me

Nobody naw give you no break
Police naw give you no break
Soldier naw give you no break
Not even you idren naw give you no break

Why did you have to act so mean don't you know
You're a human being born of a mother with
The love of a father reflections come and reflections go
I know sometimes you want to let go
I know sometimes you want to let go

Can you believe that was from Xfiles, folks. I can, and it's my theme song for goodnight.

Kevin Spacey, look out.

Goodnight, all,

From Letty with love

McT, don't be a meanie and keep us hanging; how on earth did the Albuquerque Fish Landing Quay get to India????I didn't even know Albuquerque had a fish landing quay, much less India!

I took a photo to prove this, which I will be able to post here in a couple of weeks, insh'allah.
It's a very quaint and quite a smelly place.

I don't know about the French being here, but we've seen Portuguese, Dutch and British (and Arabs and Jews) at different times so why not?
It's an interesting place, with different layers of history, and fish....

Good morning WA2K listeners and contributors. My goodness I have never seen so much discussion on quays and fish, folks. So, this early morning, here's a poem for our Scott in India:

On The Quay

I've never traveled for more'n a day,
I never was one to roam,
But I likes to sit on the busy quay,
Watchin' the ships that says to me -
"Always somebody goin' away,
Somebody gettin' home."
I likes to think that the world's so wide -
'Tis grand to be livin' there,
Takin' a part in its goin's on. . . .
Ah, now ye're laughin' at poor old John,
Talkin' o' works o' the world wi' pride
As if he was doin' his share!

But laugh if ye will! When ye're old as me
Ye'll find 'tis a rare good plan
To look at the world - an' love it too! -
Though never a job are ye fit to do. . . .
Oh! 'tisn't all sorrow an' pain to see
The work o' another man.
'Tis good when the heart grows big at last,
Too big for trouble to fill -
Wi' room for the things that was only stuff
When workin' an' winnin' seemed more'n enough -
Room for the world, the world so vast,
Wi' its peoples an' all their skill.

That's what I'm thinkin' on all the days
I'm loafin' an' smokin' here,
An' the ships do make me think the most
(Of readin' in books 'tis little I'd boast), -
But the ships, they carries me long, long ways,
An' draws far places near.

I sees the things that a sailor brings,
I hears the stories he tells. . . .
'Tis surely a wonderful world, indeed!
'Tis more'n the peoples can ever need!
An' I praises the Lord - to myself I sings -
For the world in which I dwells.

An' I loves the ships more every day
Though I never was one to roam.
Oh! the ships is comfortin' sights to see,
An' they means a lot when they says to me -
"Always somebody goin' away,
Somebody gettin' home."

Well, where is every one? I just found out that Madonna did a James Bond song:

Artist: Madonna Lyrics
Song: Die Another Day Lyrics

I'm gonna wake up, yes and no
I'm gonna kiss some part of
I'm gonna keep this secret
I'm gonna close my body now

I guess, die another day
I guess, die another day
I guess, die another day
I guess, die another day

I guess I'll die another day
(Another day)
I guess I'll die another day
(Another day)
I guess I'll die another day
(Another day)
I guess I'll die another day

Sigmund Freud
Analyze this
Analyze this
Analyze this

I'm gonna break the cycle
I'm gonna shake up the system
I'm gonna destroy my ego
I'm gonna close my body now

Uh, uh

I think I'll find another way
There's so much more to know
I guess I'll die another day
It's not my time to go

For every sin, I'll have to pay
I've come to work, I've come to play
I think I'll find another way
It's not my time to go

I'm gonna avoid the cliche
I'm gonna suspend my senses
I'm gonna delay my pleasure
I'm gonna close my body now

I guess, die another day
I guess I'll die another day
I guess, die another day
I guess I'll die another day

I think I'll find another way
There's so much more to know
I guess I'll die another day
It's not my time to go

Uh, uh

[Laugh]

I guess, die another day
I guess I'll die another day
I guess, die another day
I guess I'll die another day

Another day [x6]

Die Another Day was for the Bond film with Pierce Brosnan.
