thanks for all the fine music being played today !
....................................................................................
today is the birthday of a Canadian icon : folksinger Stan Rogers .

Quote:
Stanley Allison "Stan" Rogers (November 29, 1949 – June 2, 1983) was a Canadian folk musician and songwriter.

Rogers was noted for his rich, baritone voice and his finely crafted, traditional-sounding songs which were frequently inspired by Canadian history and the daily lives of working people, especially those from the fishing villages of the Maritime provinces and, later, the farms of the Canadian prairies and Great Lakes. Rogers died in a fire aboard Air Canada Flight 797 on the ground at the Greater Cincinnati Airport at the age of 33. His influence on Canadian folk music has been deep and lasting.

@edgarblythe,
I don't really remember him, yet I like his songs. Especially this one...

btw my husband saw him in concert and still remembers the seat and row he was in at the concert. It amazes me that he saw him and remembers and still has the ticket stub.

That song of India is a good one, letty.

Elvis had a number of 'periods' in his music. In the Ghetto represents one of the better ones.

Trying2learn, I never cared for Elvis until I heard him sing Wise men say only fools rush in...etc. That was a song taken from a poem.

edgar, thanks for your comment, and In the Ghetto by the King was good, but sad.

Saying goodnight now and I'm going to play the Instrument first.

Now, Nelson.

hope hbg's song will work tomorrow.

Always great having that Scottish lad with us and, of course Ontario via Canada. Also euroGeorge and Latin George.

From Letty with love and memories of my mom who really like that Eddy guy.

@edgarblythe,
thanks again for your comment, edgar, and a personal acknowledgement.

Good grief. I just remembered Sam Cooke doing You Send Me. What a horrible death and I'm not certain if it was ever resolved. Bet you know, Texas.

Somehow, I awakened with Doc Severinsen stuck in my head.

@Letty,
I've been singing this all day, and winding up my little boy in the process. I blame the BBC.

@Letty,
I do have a good singing voice even if I say so myself. Sammy was still hitting the notes right until the end.

@edgarblythe,
Bette Davis Eyes by Kim was great, edgar. Incidentally, I knew every one of those songs by Rogers and Hart.

The last movie I saw with Bette was Apple Annie so here's "old blue eyes" and some kids doing a song from that movie.
