The Weather Channel states Hurricane Dennis has been downgraded to a level 1 storm. The track is to the left of Florida. Also winds have dropped below 100 mph. Southern Florida will still get wet though.

Good morning, WA2K radio.

First, I would like to say to dj, that the version of Walk Away Renee gave me a smile, somehow. The line about "...one day she cut her hair and I stopped loving her..." was perhaps metaphorical, but it came across as humorous.

Also, it was great to get discussions from Yit and Calamity Jane, who I just discovered was originally German, and a song/poem from our dys who seemed to convey that the poets of renown were whistling in the wind. (uhoh) Maybe they were, dys, but as someone once observed, poets are liars who tell the ultimate truth.

Thank you, Bob, for the background on Ed Ames. I'm willing to wager that it's a precursor to Raggedy's celeb updates.

Eva, I just found out what "crossing one's fingers, etc." means. Thanks, honey.

Hi Letty. Raggedy says she needs her beauty sleep. I have no hope of beauty so I don't sleep. Trivia: Debbie Reynolds sang Tammy from her film Tammy and the Bachelor but the beginning of the film while the credits were rolling had the Ames Brothers singing the song.

Ah, Bob. That's refreshing news. Perhaps Dennis won't be the menace that the Gulf Coast feared.

Well, listeners. We try and keep you up to date on the world and what's in it. Thanks to all our contributors for helping make our cyber radio a meaningful thing.

Very Happy Bob, your beauty comes from within, my friend. Raggedy is always missed, but tell her I certainly understand about "sleep". thanks for that bit of trivia.

Time for some morning songs, listeners.

Here's to the Dylan lovers:

In the early morning rain with a dollar in my hand
And an aching in my heart and my pockets full of sand
I'm a long way from home and I miss my loved one so
In the early morning rain with nowhere to go.

Cut on runway number nine, big 707 set to go
I'm stuck here on the ground, where the cold winds blow
The liquor tasted good and the women all were fast
There she goes, my friend, she's rolling down at last.

Hear the mighty engines roar, see the silver bird on high
She's away and westward bound, far above the clouds she'll fly
Where the morning rain don't fall and the sun always shines
She'll be flying over my home in about three hours time.

This old airport's got me down, it's no earthly good to me
Because I'm stuck here on the ground, cold and drunks as I might be
You can't hop a jet plane like you can a freight train
So I'd best be on my way in the early morning rain.

Good Morning WA2K.

Am hoping that Letty is well and safe and secure in her corner of the world.

Thank you Bob for posting "You, You, You". It takes me back to my roller rink skating days and the after hours club where the man I was to later marry always requested that the band play it for our last dance. When I saw Ames' on the B.D. list, I immediately thought of that song and the first time I heard him sing this song solo:

Hallelujah! Hallelujah!, Hallelujah!

From the canyons of the mind,
We wander on and stumble blindly
Through the often-tangled maze
Of starless nights and sunless days,
While asking for some kind of clue
Or road to lead us to the truth,
But who will answer?

Side by side two people stand,
Together vowing, hand-in-hand
That love's imbedded in their hearts,
But soon an empty feeling starts
To overwhelm their hollow lives,
And when they seek the hows and whys,
Who will answer?

On a strange and distant hill,
A young man's lying very still.
His arms will never hold his child,
Because a bullet running wild
Has struck him down. And now we cry,
"Dear God, Oh, why, oh, why?"
But who will answer?

High upon a lonely ledge,
a figure teeters near the edge,
And jeering crowds collect below
To egg him on with, "Go, man, go!"
But who will ask what led him
To his private day of doom,
And who will answer?

(Chorus)

If the soul is darkened
By a fear it cannot name,
If the mind is baffled
When the rules don't fit the game,
Who will answer? Who will answer? Who will answer?
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!, Hallelujah!

In the rooms of dark and shades,
The scent of sandalwood pervades.
The colored thoughts in muddled heads
Reclining in the rumpled beds
Of unmade dreams that can't come true,
And when we ask what we should do,
Who... Who will answer?

'Neath the spreading mushroom tree,
The world revolves in apathy
As overhead, a row of specks
Roars on, drowned out by discotheques,
And if a secret button's pressed
Because one man has been outguessed,
Who will answer?

Is our hope in walnut shells
Worn 'round the neck with temple bells,
Or deep within some cloistered walls
Where hooded figures pray in halls?
Or crumbled books on dusty shelves,
Or in our stars, or in ourselves,
Who will answer?

(Repeat Chorus Below)

If the soul is darkened
By a fear it cannot name,
If the mind is baffled
When the rules don't fit the game,
Who will answer? Who will answer? Who will answer?
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!, Hallelujah!

(I recently bought that song on an Ed Ames CD and after all these years, it still gives me chills. )

I'll be back with the Birthdays. But first, I need my caffeine kick.

Glad to see our Angel back and appreciating the music here in cyber space radio.

News from Spain:

PAMPLONA, Spain (AP) - At least three people were gored and several others suffered scrapes and cuts on Saturday in Spain's running of the bulls.

Six bulls charged through the medieval streets of Pamplona, chasing fans of the 16th century tradition. The half-mile route runs from a corral to a bull ring.

A spokesman for the annual San Fermin festival said one fan was gored in the mouth and two others in the legs and buttocks. Other runners were hurt when they slipped and fell.

Hundreds of thousands of people converge on this northern city every year to see the bull runs, held every day during the week of July 7-14. The festival was made famous by Ernest Hemingway in his 1926 novel "The Sun Also Rises."

BOB MARLEY lyrics
"So Much Trouble In The World"

So much trouble in the world
So much trouble in the world

Bless my eyes this morning
Jah sun is on the rise once again
The way earthly thin's are goin'
Anything can happen.

You see men sailing on their ego trip,
Blast off on their spaceship,
Million miles from reality:
No care for you, no care for me.

So much trouble in the world;
So much trouble in the world.
All you got to do: give a little (give a little),
Give a little (give a little), give a little (give a little)!
One more time, ye-ah! (give a little) Ye-ah! (give a little)
Ye-ah! (give a little) Yeah!

So you think you've found the solution,
But it's just another illusion!
(So before you check out this tide),
Don't leave another cornerstone
Standing there behind, eh-eh-eh-eh!
We've got to face the day;
(Ooh) Ooh-wee, come what may:
We the street people talkin',
Yeah, we the people strugglin'.

Now they sitting on a time bomb; (Bomb-bomb-bomb! Bomb-bomb-bomb!)
Now I know the time has come: (Bomb-bomb-bomb! Bomb-bomb-bomb!)
What goes on up is coming on down, (Bomb-bomb-bomb! Bomb-bomb-bomb!)
Goes around and comes around. (Bomb-bomb-bomb! Bomb-bomb-bomb!)

So much trouble in the world;
So much trouble in the world;
So much trouble in the world.
There is so much trouble (so much trouble in the world);
There is so much trouble;
There is so much trouble (so much in the world);
There is so much trouble;
There is so much trouble in the world (so much trouble in the world);
There is (so much in the world);
(So much trouble in the world)

Your correct, dys, written and composed by Gordon Lightfoot.

Saturday Clothes

I feel a blue 'cause I can't sew
There's still a lot of things that I should know
Anyone can guess
I don't know how to press
My Saturday clothes
Everyone's goin' home
I feel a little sad to watch them leave
But I'll be cool because I don't believe
The happy times are gone
I can still put on
My Saturday clothes
Every warm body knows

I've got to tell you
That was a swell time
So now I'll take the butts away
And put the glasses on the tray
I'll see you all next Saturday

I feel a little off because they're gone
And if my gal were here I'd still be on
But in a week or two
There's lots of things to do
In my Saturday clothes
Everyone's gone home

I've got to tell you
That was a swell time
So now I'll take the butts away
And put the glasses on the tray
I'll see you all next Saturday

Ah, Raggedy. Tom Hanks has always been a favorite of mine. Thanks for the updates.

Angel, Yes, so much trouble in the world, and I guess it's up to the world to solve its own problems.

Hey, dys. I think Early Morning Rain was done by Dylan as well, but Gordon Lightfoot was probably the original, just as you are. <smile>

Bill Withers
Lovely Day

When I wake up in the morning, love
And the sunlight hurts my eyes
And something without warning, love
Bears heavy on my mind
Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day
... lovely day, lovely day, lovely day ...
When the day that lies ahead of me
Seems impossible to face
When someone else instead of me
Always seems to know the way
Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day.....
When the day that lies ahead of me
Seems impossible to face
When someone else instead of me
Always seems to know the way
Then I look at you
And the world's alright with me
Just one look at you
And I know it's gonna be
A lovely day......

Well, good afternoon, Walter. You are our verification master, Germany. Saturday Clothes must be Gordon as well.

Well, folks. We know that Scotland is okay, and so is Norway, London's still here, but where is France? Somewhere in his garden, perhaps.

"Love's Divine"

Then the rainstorm came, over me
And I felt my spirit break
I had lost all of my, belief you see
And realized my mistake
But time through a prayer, to me
And all around me became still

I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Through the rainstorm came sanctuary
And I felt my spirit fly
I had found all of my reality
I realize what it takes

'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name

Well I try to say there's nothing wrong
But inside I felt me lying all along
But the message here was plain to see
Believe me

'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name

Love can help me know my name.
