Well, silly me. What kind of biography was that for Toby Keith without a date of birth. I plead insanity caused by LOC (lack of coffee). Here's the missing info.

Toby Keith Covel (born July 8, 1961) is an American country music singer and songwriter.

No problem, Bob. We all have our little lapses. <smile>

Hey, Angel. I'm awake, but just barely.

Song for letty's insomnia:

Last night I didn't get to sleep at all, no, no
I lay awake and watched until the mornin' light
Washed away the darkness of the lonely night (lonely night)

Oh, and last night I got to thinkin' maybe I, I, I
Should call you up and just forget my foolish pride
I heard your number ringin', I went cold inside
And last night I didn't get to sleep at all

BRIDGE
I know it's not my fault, I did my best
God knows this heart of mine could use a rest
But more and more I find the dreams I left behind
Are somehow too real to replace (to replace)

Oh, last night I didn't get to sleep at all, no, no
The sleepin' pill I took was just a waste of time
I couldn't close my eyes 'cause you were on my mind
And last night I didn't get to sleep, didn't get to sleep
No, I didn't get to sleep at all at all

But more and more I find the dreams I left behind
Are somehow too real to replace (to replace)

Oh-uh-oh last night I didn't get to sleep at all no, no
The sleepin' pill I took was just a waste of time
I couldn't close my eyes 'cause you were on my mind
And last night I didn't get to sleep, didn't get to sleep
No, I didn't get to sleep at all at all

No, no, no
No, no, no

Last night I didn't get to sleep at all, no, no
Last night I didn't get to sleep at all
FADE

Folks, you won't believe this, but I sat up watching AMC last night and there were two movies. One with John Wayne called "Brannigan" and the setting was in London. The other was called "The French Connection" with Gene Hackman. Do you supposed that was planned?

450 Sheep Jump to Their Deaths in Turkey

ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) - First one sheep jumped to its death. Then stunned Turkish shepherds, who had left the herd to graze while they had breakfast, watched as nearly 1,500 others followed, each leaping off the same cliff, Turkish media reported.

In the end, 450 dead animals lay on top of one another in a billowy white pile, the Aksam newspaper said. Those who jumped later were saved as the pile got higher and the fall more cushioned, Aksam reported.

"There's nothing we can do. They're all wasted," Nevzat Bayhan, a member of one of 26 families whose sheep were grazing together in the herd, was quoted as saying by Aksam.

The estimated loss to families in the town of Gevas, located in Van province in eastern Turkey, tops $100,000, a significant amount of money in a country where average GDP per head is around $2,700.

"Every family had an average of 20 sheep," Aksam quoted another villager, Abdullah Hazar as saying. "But now only a few families have sheep left. It's going to be hard for us."

Rather quiet in here, listeners. But in my corner of Florida, it won't be for long:

FULL COVERAGE: Hurricanes and Tropical Storms
Hurricane Dennis crashes ashore in Cuba, on track for US coast
AFP - 1 hour, 32 minutes ago
HAVANA - Powerful Hurricane Dennis crashed ashore in central Cuba packing winds of 240 km/h (149 mph) and unleashing pounding rains, Cuban officials said. "It just made landfall at 1:00 pm near (the central province of) Cienfuegos," the Cuban Meteorological Institute chief Jose Rubiera reported. "It is a very strong Category Four, almost a Category Five" the strongest level on the Saffir-Simpson scale, he added. Rubiera said the city of Cienfuegos would be lashed and that Cienfuegos Bay could be hit by a storm surge of five meters (15 feet).

One small song for everyone:

Lyrics
Song: Eye Of The Tiger Lyrics by SURVIVOR

Risin' up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive

So many times, it happens too fast
You change your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

Chorus:
It's the eye of the tiger, it's the cream of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all in the eye of the tiger

Face to face, out in the heat
Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry
They stack the odds 'til we take to the street
For we kill with the skill to survive

chorus

Risin' up, straight to the top
Have the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I'm not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive

chorus

The eye of the tiger (repeats out)...

Hold all of us in your thoughts, folks.

Much as I am tempted to burst the bubble of a right winger, I cannot lay the blame on anyone except the individual who made the callous statement. Read on.

David Sirota: Brit Hume Goes On TV & Says He Wants to Profit Off the Terrorist Attack

David Sirota Fri Jul 8,12:01 AM ET

Media Matters points out that Fox News' top anchorman, Brit Hume, gave us a glimpse into just how cynical, greedy and disgusting the right-wing's outlook on the world is:

"My first thought when I heard - just on a personal basis, when I heard there had been this attack and I saw the futures this morning, which were really in the tank, I thought, 'Hmmm, time to buy.'"
- Fox News's Brit Hume, 7/7/05

That's right - his first thought after hearing about the awful terrorist attack in London today wasn't "how tragic," or "let's say a prayer for the dead," or "how can I help the victims" - his first thought was, there was a terrorist attack, how can I personally profit off it? In fact, his impulse to use the bloodshed to make himself money was so intense, he actually voiced it on national television (FYI - in case you'd like to voice your displeasure, Brit's email address is [email protected] and his office number is 202-824-6300).

Of course, this was only the worst example from Fox. Earlier in the day, Fox reporter Brian Kilmeade seemed to cheer on the attack because he said "it works to our advantage." Meanwhile, Fox's Stuart Varney was genuinely excited that the attack will mean other progressive issues will now be knocked out of the public debate. "It takes global warming off the front burner," Varney frothed. "It takes African aid off the front burner. It sticks terrorism and the fight on the war on terror, right up front all over again."

Remember, these people are using the public's airwaves to spew out this bile. To call these people nauseating is an insult to nausea.

Hold good thoughts for Florida, Boston. Devastation comes in different guises.

a song for those seeking shelter from the storm

Thunder Island
Jay Ferguson

Sha-la-la-la-la-la my lady
In the sun with your hair undone
Can you hear me now calling your name
From across the bay
A summer's day laughing and a-hidin'
Chasing love out on Thunder Island

She was the color of the Indian summer
And we shared the hours without number
Until one day when the sky turned dark
And the winds grew wild
Caught by the rain and blinded by the lightnin'
We rode the storm out there on Thunder Island

I held her close
Until the storm passed
And we fell down laughing in the wet grass
Both our bodies drying in the sunshine, sweet sunshine
So, sha-la-la-la-la-la my lady
In the sun with your dress undone
Now, ev'ry mile away and ev'ry day
Cuts a little deeper
I'll remember the nights in the cool sand
Making love out on Thunder Island

Goodbye Thunder Island

and one more

Shelter from the Storm
Bob Dylan

'Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
When blackness was a virtue and the road was full of mud
I come in from the wilderness, a creature void of form.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

And if I pass this way again, you can rest assured
I'll always do my best for her, on that I give my word
In a world of steel-eyed death, and men who are fighting to be warm.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

Not a word was spoke between us, there was little risk involved
Nothing up to that point had even been resolved.
Try imagining a place where it's always safe and warm.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

I was burned out from exhaustion, buried in the hail,
Poisoned in the bushes an' blown out on the trail,
Hunted like a crocodile, ravaged in the corn.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

Suddenly I turned around and she was standin' there
With silver bracelets on her wrists and flowers in her hair.
She walked up to me so gracefully and took my crown of thorns.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

Now the bonds are broken, but they can be retired,
by one more journey to the woods, the holes where spirits hide.
It's a never ending battle for a peace that's always torn
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

Well, the deputy walks on hard nails and the preacher rides a mount
But nothing really matters much, it's doom alone that counts
And the one-eyed undertaker, he blows a futile horn.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

I've heard newborn babies cryin' like a moanin' dove
And old men with broken teeth stranded without love.
Do I understand your question, man, is it hopeless and forlorn?
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

And now there's a wall between us, something else been lost
I took too much for granted, I got my signals crossed.
And just to think it all began on an uneventful morn,
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

In a little hilltop village, they gambled for my clothes
I bargained for salvation an' she give me a lethal dose.
I offered up my innocence and got repaid with scorn.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

Well, I'm livin' in a foreign country but I'm bound to cross the line
Beauty walks on a razor's edge, someday I'll make it mine.
If I could only turn back the clock to when God and her were born,
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

George Harrison, on a somewhat philosphical note:

Sunrise doesn't last all morning
A cloudburst doesn't last all day
Seems my love is up and has left you with no warning
It's not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away

Sunset doesn't last all evening
A mind can blow those clouds away
After all this, my love is up and must be leaving
It's not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
None of life's strings can last
So, I must be on my way
And face another day

Now the darkness only stays the night-time
In the morning it will fade away
Daylight is good at arriving at the right time
It's not always going to be this grey

All things must pass
All things must pass away
All things must pass
All things must pass away

You'll Never Walk Alone
Rodgers & Hammerstein

When you walk through a storm
Keep your chin up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At he end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.

Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone.

On behalf of all those here in Florida, we appreciate your good will.

This bears repeating:

It was the purpose and intent of this cyberspace radio station to include all the nations of this planet. Although we have been somewhat successful, I wish more had joined us.

I told Yitwail that often a still small voice of calm comes to us during times of crisis. I just experienced it.

Unfortunately, too many people are only concerned with what affects them personally. That is really too bad.

The state of Florida isn't really very appealing right now. It has nothing to do with the hurricanes, it has to do with pure and simple greed and lack of concern for its citizens. That will never change, but perhaps, out there somewhere, is a statesman, waiting to be born..no, not the rough beast of Yates, but a stronger smoother one.

"..he was despis-ed and rejected"...but he has made an impact that will never be forgotten, only distorted...

From Letty, with love.

some songs to take your minds off the storms

from the master of disasterous and unrequited love

mr billy bragg

Bad Penny

I have a letter from her
When she worked for the "Woman's Realm"
And all the things she promised me
She promised herself as well
She said, "I want my freedom"
And ran off along the beach
It's hard to love a girl so near
Yet so far out of reach

She came back when the tide came in
And introduced her friend to me
She said, "Don't ring while he is here"
And gave me back my poetry
She expected me to understand
As she's always done this before
And now she asks me
"Why don't you send me poems anymore?"

And she steals more than she buys
You can see it in her eyes
And she'll come back as soon as she's ready
She's a bad penny

Then she comes back and asks me
To sing all her favourite songs
As if she's never been away
As if she's done nothing wrong
But I've come to the conclusion
That she doesn't realise a thing
And she probably still thinks I love her
And she doesn't know that it's a sin

Walk Away Renee (Version)

She said it was just a figment of speech
And I said, "You mean figure?"
And she said, "No, figment"
Because she could never imagine it happening
But it did.

When we first met I played the shy boy
And when she spoke to me for the first time
My nose began to bleed
She guessed the rest

The next day we went on a bus ride to the ferry
And when nobody came to collect our fares
Well, I knew then this was something special
I couldn't stop thinking about her
And every time I switched on the radio
There was somebody else singing a song about the two of us

It was just like being on a fast ride at the funfair
The sort you wanna get off because it's scary
And then as soon as you're off
You wanna get straight back on again

But our love is strange
And you have to take the crunchy with the smooth I s'pose
She began going out with Mr Potato Head
It was when I saw her in the car park
With his coat around her shoulders that I realised
I went home and thought about the two of them together
Until the bath water went cold around me

I thought about her eyes and the curve of her breasts
And about the point where their bodies met
I confronted her about it.
I said, "I'm the most illegible bachelor in town."
And she said, "Yea, that's why I can never understand
Any of those silly letters you send me."

And then one day it happened
She cut 'er hair and I stopped lovin' 'er

Mother Of The Bride

The Reverend Mother went and got me a drink
She came back and said to me "Well what do you think?"
I said "I've made myself a fool
For the prettiest girl in school"

How can I deal with this hurt I feel inside?
I tell it to the mother of the bride

I put on my suit and smile for the big day
But I couldn't watch as her dad gave her away
And as they solemnly said "You'll do"
Her mother said "That should have been you"

At the mercy of the moon
The boy who spoke too soon

She married him and destroyed all my hopes
Of a two-up, two-down, two point five
and a dish on the roof
For the soaps
I saw them at the hardware store
He looked boring she looked bored

It's nice to know that someone was on my side
Best wishes to the mother of the bride

The Price I Pay

My friend said she could see no way ahead
And I was probably better off without you
She said to face up to the fact that you weren't coming back
And she could make me happy like you used to
But I'm sorry to say I turned her away
Knowing everything she said was true
And that's the price I pay for loving you the way that I do

There's something inside that hurts my foolish pride
To visit the places we used to go together
Not a day goes by that I don't sit and wonder why
Your feelings for me didn't last forever
Girl I love you so much that sometimes it's such
I'd walk a mile with a stone in my shoe
And that's the price I pay for loving you the way that I do
That's the price I pay for loving you the way that I do

So keep that phone out of my way for the things I must say
Are empty if you don't believe they're true
And that's the price I pay for loving you the way that I do
That's the price I pay for loving you the way that I do

I love you so much that baby it's such
I'd walk a mile with a stone in my shoe
And that's the price I pay for loving you the way that I do

Honey I'm A Big Boy Now

I can see the kitchen light
From the road where I park my bike
But it's dark there as it often is these days
And the gloomy living room
Really needs a dust and a broom
But I can't brush your memory away

Her father was an admiral
In someone else's navy
And she had seen the World before I met her
She would wash and cook and clean
And all the other things between
And like a fool I just sat there and let her

CHORUS:
Now I can feed and wash and dress myself
And I can sleep without the light on
Honey, I'm a big boy now
I don't know what she does With all the money that I sent her
She's running round the town with the Young Pretender

I haven't touched the garden
Since the day she walked away
From a love affair that bore only bitter fruit
She took everything she wanted
Which is why she left me here
With these pots and pans and my old wedding suit

A letter came one morning
That she would not let me see
And from that day I began to realise
That she would one day break
The home we tried to make
For sinners cannot live in paradise

The Saturday Boy

I'll never forget the first day I met her
That September morning was clear and fresh
The way she spoke and laughed at my jokes
And the way she rubbed herself
Against the edge of my desk
She became a magic mystery to me
And we'd sit together in double
History twice a week
And some days we'd walk the same way home
And it's surprising how quick
A little rain can clear the streets
We dreamed of her and compared our dreams
But that was all that I ever tasted
She lied to me with her body you see
I lied to myself 'bout the chances I'd wasted

The times we were close
Were far and few between
In the darkness at the dances in the school canteen
Did she close her eyes like I did
As we held each other tight
And la la la la la la la la means I love you

She danced with me and I still hold that memory
Soft and sweet
And I stare up at her window
As I walk down her street
But I never made the first team,
I just made the first team laugh
And she never came to the phone
She was always in the bath
I had to look in the dictionary
To find out the meaning of unrequited
While she was giving herself for free
At a party to which I was never invited

I never understood my failings then
And I hide my humble hopes now
Thinking back she made us want her
A girl not old enough to shave her legs

The Man in The Iron Mask

When he drops you off, I will not say
Who was that who so quickly drove away...
The things you've done and the places you've been
When I open the door for you
I will not let them in...

As long as you come back to me
I will never ask
For you I will be
The man in the iron mask

You said you love me and it broke my heart
I was always your prisoner right from the start
The nights you spend without me
this house is like a dungeon
And you only return to torture me more

You must have your reasons
I will no ask -
For you I will be
The Man in the Iron Mask

Rave on John Donne, rave on thy Holy fool
Down through the weeks of ages
In the moss borne dark dank pools

Rave on, down through the industrial revolution
Empiricism, atomic and nuclear age
Rave on down through time and space down through the corridors
Rave on words on printed page

Rave on, you left us infinity
And well pressed pages torn to fade
Drive on with wild abandon
Uptempo, frenzied heels

Rave on, Walt Whitman, nose down in wet grass
Rave on fill the senses
On nature's bright green shady path

Rave on Omar Khayyam, Rave on Kahlil Gibran
Oh, what sweet wine we drinketh
The celebration will be held
We will partake the wine and break the Holy bread

Rave on let a man come out of Ireland
Rave on on Mr. Yeats,
Rave on down through the Holy Rosey Cross
Rave on down through theosophy, and the Golden Dawn
Rave on through the writing of "A Vision"

Ed Ames
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Ed Ames (born July 9, 1927) is an American popular singer and actor.

He was born Edmund Dantes Urick in Malden, Massachusetts, and along with his three brothers, Joe (born May 3, 1921), Gene (born February 13, 1923), and Vic (May 20, 1925-January 23, 1978) excelled in athletics as a child. The brothers also liked to sing, and formed a quartet, "The Urick Brothers," which sang in many clubs in the Boston area. When they wanted to go to New York, the playwright Abe Burroughs suggested the name The Ames Brothers, and under that name the group had many hits in the 1950s.

Ed left the group to pursue his own career, studying acting at the Herbert Berghoff School, and privately with Tamara Doykharhanova, Lee Strasberg, and Milton Katselas. His first starring role was in an Off-Broadway production of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible," going on to starring performances in "The Fantasticks" and "Carnival." Finally he had his biggest hit as a stage actor, in the play "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."

Talent scouts at 20th Century Fox saw Ed in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and invited him to co-star in a television series, "Daniel Boone." During his five seasons on this program, he returned to singing, making such hit recordings as

* "Try to Remember"
* "My Cup Runneth Over"
* "Who Will Answer?"
* "Apologize"
* "When the Snow Is on the Roses"

One of the most memorable moments of the Tonight Show when it was hosted by Johnny Carson came when Ed Ames appeared on April 29, 1965. During the course of the show, Ed and Johnny were discussing tomahawk throwing, which Ed had developed as a skill for his role of Mingo on the Daniel Boone show. When Ames claimed that he could hit a target from across the room, Johnny asked Ed if he could demonstrate this skill. Ed agreed, and a wood panel with a chalk outline of a cowboy was brought on to the stage. Ed proceeded to throw the tomahawk, which hit the "cowboy" in the crotch. This led to the longest sustained burst of laughter in the history of the show.

While maintaining his career, he attended the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving his degree in theater and cinema arts, with highest honors, in 1975.

THE AMES BROTHERS lyrics - "You, You, You"

www.OldieLyrics.com

(Words by Robert Mellin and Lotar Olias, music by Hugo Winterhalter and His Orchestra)

You, You You
I'm in love with you, you, you
I could be so true, true, true
To someone like you, you, you

Do, do, do
What you oughta do, do, do
Take me in you arms, please do
Let me cling to you, you, you

We were meant for each other
Sure as heavens above
We were meant for each other
To have, to hold and to love

You, you, you
There's no one like you, you, you
You could make my dreams come true
If you say you love me too

[Instrumental Interlude]

We were meant for each other
Sure as heavens above
We were meant for each other
To have, to hold and to love

You, you, you
There's no one like you, you, you
You could make my dreams come true
If you say you love me too
