I played this record so often that it became scratchy - had to buy a second copy. Ode to Billy Joe. Still a favourite of mine.

@edgarblythe,
Love Up Where We Belong by Buffy, and thanks again for your comments. Also enjoyed Melody of Love. (I think that is the name of your song in English, Texas.

Vonny, I sang Ode to Billy Jo when I was younger. Love it.

Here's a fun one by Diana and Margaret. First some info on one of the ladies.

Margaret Marian McPartland, OBE, is an English-born jazz pianist, composer, writer, and was the host of Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz on National Public Radio until she stepped down on 10 November 2011

She's still with us.

I first heard Sunny Side of the Street in the movies, in the Forties or early Fifties. Frankie Laine did it it there.

edgar, Diana had the ability to bring back the oldies. Aretha and Tony doing How Do You Keep the Music Playing was great.

Welcome back, ehBeth. I too like Freddy Fender, especially that song.

Don't know Farewell to Nova Scotia, but loved it.

Here's another Canadian and she is great.

Can't forget Elvis! He was very much a part of my growing up, and he did make musicals - even if most of them were pretty bad! Despite that, his voice and personality combined to make him pretty unforgettable to the average teenager!

Barbra was, in my opinion, unfailingly good - still is!

Elvis reinvented himself quite often throughout his career - two of my favourites are the leather clad Elvis and the white suited Elvis - both featured in the following video clip -

today is the birthday of a great british singer : Cilla Black .

Vonny no doubt knows her songs .

Quote:
Cilla Black OBE (born Priscilla Maria Veronica White, 27 May 1943) is an English singer, actress, entertainer and media personality. She began her career as a singer in 1963, and is most famous in the UK for her singles "Anyone Who Had a Heart" (1964) and "You're My World" (1964), both of which reached number one. Black had eleven Top Ten hits on the British charts between 1964 and 1971. In May 2010, new research published by BBC Radio 2 claimed that her version of "Anyone Who Had a Heart" was the UK's biggest selling single by a female artist in the 1960s.[1] "You're My World" was also a modest hit in the United States, peaking at No.26 on the Billboard Hot 100.

@hamburgboy,
Very well, hamburgboy. She worked as a cloakroom attendant at the famous Cavern Club in Liverpool - the club where the Beatles were discovered by Brian Epstein. Her voice wasn't particularly outstanding, but when her friends, the Beatles wrote a song for her - 'Love of the Loved' - she quickly became popular, rising to fame with Anyone 'Who Had a Heart'. Later she became known more for her role as presenter of a television dating show, Blind Date.

Thanks for the comment, ehBeth. Wish I could acknowledge each contributor, but my way of thanking you all is to thumb up your music.

Time for me to say goodnight and I think that I shall do so with "the fab four" and Elvis again.
