wonderful songs from all of you here on WA2K radio.

Had to let the turtle man know that I was not always the older lady in Birdland.

trying to find the photo of me on that defunct golf course.

Goodnight. Had a wonderful evening out at a cafe on the ocean.

From Letty with love to you and all that I know via photos

perhaps i missed it ?

did we wish Bob Dylan a Happy Birthday ?

Quote:
Bob Dylan (pron.: /ˈdɪlən/; born Robert Allen Zimmerman; May 24, 1941) is an American musician, singer-songwriter, music producer, artist, and writer. He has been an influential figure in popular music and culture for more than five decades.[2][ 3] Much of his most celebrated work dates from the 1960s when he was an informal chronicler and a seemingly reluctant figurehead of social unrest. A number of Dylan's early songs, such as "Blowin' in the Wind" and "The Times They Are a-Changin'", became anthems for the US civil rights[4] and anti-war[5] movements. Leaving his initial base in the culture of folk music behind, Dylan's six-minute single "Like a Rolling Stone" radically altered the parameters of popular music in 1965.[6] His recordings employing electric instruments attracted denunciation and criticism from others in the folk movement.

( he is " 72 " years old !!! )

what is great here is that daddy's and daughters play great stuff.

Hurry back, hbg and ehBeth; wandel and Annie and all the rest.

edgar, thanks for that great photo of "the jester" plus the lyrics.

More synchronicity, y'all. Today is this Canadian's birthday, but first some info.

Michael John "Mike" Myers (born May 25, 1963) is a Canadian actor, comedian, singer, screenwriter, and film producer. He is most known for his roles in various popular films, including playing the title characters of the films Wayne's World, Austin Powers, and Shrek. He has also been a recurring member of the cast of the NBC sketch show Saturday Night Live.

Now, a tribute.

Aloha listeners. As I promised yesterday, I'm leaping ahead to the letter Y with Lester Young & Count Basie on "Lester Leaps In": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaKH33E7zJM

Then there's Z as in Austrian pianist/composer Joe Zawinul. First, his composition "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" with Cannonball: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3djKXcsqDM8

Next, his band Weather Report, featuring Wayne Shorter sax, Jaco Pastorius bass, on "A Remark You Made": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4lSPzK5u8E

Finally, wrapping it all up, my favorite jazz musician, Miles Davis. So many of the musicians I played in my alphabet series worked with Miles at one time or the other -- Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Thelonius Monk, Sonny Rollins, Wayne Shorter, Sarah Vaughan, and Joe Zawinul to name but a few. So I'm closing this out with "Bye Bye Blackbird", with the great quintet featuring Coltrane, Red Garland, Paul Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV2lNHfSXBQ

@yitwail,
Like I said, Miles played with a lot of luminaries. I left out Cannonball in my list. Many more legendary musicians I haven't featured in my alphabet also played with Miles. A really partial list would include Charlie Parker, Horace Silver, Chick Corea, Keith Jarrett, John McLaughlin, and Tony Williams. It wouldn't be that hard to do a Miles Davis a to z.

Welcome back, yitwail. Loved all of your jazz tunes, buddy. I sang Bye Bye Black Bird in undergrad school, and Cannonball's Mercy, Mercy, Mercy has lyrics as well. Didn't know the other two, however. Aloha and Aloha. (doesn't that mean both hello and goodbye?)

edgar, Hope that pack was a nice surprise. Didn't know Martha my Dear by the Fab Four. Liked it.

Another group inspired by The Four Freshmen. It covers all the seasons.

@vonny,
Vonny, Welcome to WA2K radio. Don't know J.J. but I do know After Midnight. Also enjoyed Leonard's First We Take Manhattan. Ah, dear Otis Redding. Try a little Tenderness is a lovely song.

Here's one by Otis that I'll always remember. (sadly)

edgar, Didn't know The Boring Day by Harry. It was a goodie, Texas.

Another Day song.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, edgar. Love Ferlin Husky's Gone. He was a great performer.

Today is this lady's birthday, but first some info.
