edgar, Hank's Squaws was a goodie as was the Everly Brothers' Love Hurts. mr. newton's Daddy don't you walk so fast is one of my favorites.

yitwail, It's great to see you on a jazz kick. Bill Evans trio; Jazz Crusaders; Stan Kenton all great ones.

Not feeling too well tonight, so I'm saying goodnight with two songs. First, a birthday guy.

Now, The Lettermen.

How wonderful to have Norway, Australia, Ontario and Hawaii with us on our radio.

From Letty with hope that tomorrow will be a better day for all of us.

Don't know either Ramona, hbg and edgar, but they were both good.

edgar, thanks for your comment on the Lettermen. I love Charles' La Mer. I think most of us know that it inspired Bobby Darin's Le Mer.

Here's a jazz band tribute to Charles.

Hmm, not quite the jazz that I know, however

if anyone isn't awake yet ... ... ...

The Fife And Drum Corps of Fort Henry " WILL " wake you up ! ... Wink ...

Quote:
The Fort Henry Guard (FHG) is a military reenactment organization based at Fort Henry, a national historic site in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It has recreated the British military tradition of a bygone era since its founding in 1938. The Guard seeks to interpret in an entertaining and animated manner, a snapshot of life in the British Army of Queen Victoria, when Canada was part of the British Empire. Guard members dress in the standard line infantry uniforms of a British regiment and the standard gunner's uniforms of the Royal Artillery in the year 1867, but the Guard does not represent any specific infantry regiment that garrisoned the fort.

Good morning. I'm up unusually early today. I have places to go, but before that, here's Yusef Lateef on oboe with a blues tune, 'In the Evening (When the Sun Goes Down)': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmT2b76WRQw

@yitwail,
Might as well take care of the letter M, with Wes Montgomery and "Bumpin' on Sunset": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dqn3PF_DcSg

@yitwail,
I would be very remiss not featuring Thelonious Monk, one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. Here's Monk's Mood, with John Coltrane: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_6vkFu9Og8

Hope I don't miss anyone, back is still a mite sore.

Latin George, I love that version of Long Black Veil by Johnny.

Great wake up song, hbg. Rule Britannia is fantastic by that Fife and Drum bunch.

yitwail, you played Yusef's song twice. bit it was worth it. Loved Monk and Wes duo doing Bumpin on Sunset.

Today is Perry's birthday and I love this one by him.

still quite a few musical birthdays today ... here is one of them :

Quote:
Robert Meredith Willson (May 18, 1902 – June 15, 1984) was an American composer, songwriter, conductor and playwright, best known for writing the book, music and lyrics for the hit Broadway musical The Music Man. He wrote three other Broadway musicals, composed symphonies and popular songs, and his film scores were twice nominated for Academy Awards.
