no , ed , the house was destroyed during the war .

i imagine it would have been demolished anyhow since those houses were very

old and real firetraps .

a memorial-cube has been erected where the house stood :

here is an interesting little fact :

Brahms was born when his mother was 43 years old - very unusual in those days .

Brahms father was 17 years YOUNGER than his wife .

edgar, Spike Jones' song was hilarious as are all his funny versions.

hbg, thanks for the explanation. One would think that the house would have been restored. We all love Brahms here. As usual, your song was lovely.

@Letty,
msletty ,

since nothing but ashes were left of the houses where Brahms was born ,

a stately old merchant's house has now become the Johannes-Brahms-Museum .

Quote:
Brahms-Museum Hamburg

A typical merchant’s house, built in 1751 and a listed building, has been the home of the Hamburg Brahms Museum now for almost four decades. It is located close to where Johannes Brahms’ birthplace stood until its destruction in 1943.
The Johannes Brahms Society is both the initiator and the body responsible for the museum, its exhibition rooms having been made available very generously by the Carl Toepfer Trust. It opened its doors to the public for the first time on the 26th August 1971 with large numbers of Hamburg’s music lovers present.

( i''m sure you'll enjoy this , msletty )

edgar, Loved B.J. Thomas' Rock and Roll Lullaby.

hbg, Tchaikovsky's song was great as was Teresa singing The Hawaiian Wedding song.

First the lyrics to Brahams' Lullaby.

Lullaby, and good night,
With pink roses bedight,
With lilies o'erspread,
Is my baby's sweet head.
Lay you down now, and rest,
May your slumber be blessed!
Lay you down now, and rest,
May thy slumber be blessed!

Lullaby, and good night,
You're your mother's delight,
Shining angels beside
My darling abide.
Soft and warm is your bed,
Close your eyes and rest your head.
Soft and warm is your bed,
Close your eyes and rest your head.

now, Tony Martin's version of Tonight We love.

@Letty,
Ms. Letty,

Thought might be fun to do a Jazz from a to z (certain letters will be challenging). Anyway, here's one from "the jug", Gene Ammons:

Good afternoon. The music is real good today. Here is one called Armen's Theme. It was recorded as a vocal and with another name by Bobby Vee, possibly the same year.
