@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, edgar. Don't know that one by Tex but I hope America is blessed once again. I never found Ebony again, unfortunately.

Here's another birthday guy, but first some info.

Jimmy Cliff, OM is a Jamaican musician, singer and actor. He is the only currently living musician to hold the Order of Merit, the highest honour that can be granted by the Jamaican government for achievement in the arts and sciences.

Now, his tribute

@Letty,
good morning msletty !

enjoyed the photo of your dog , Otto - and your tribute to Otto von Bismarck .

i'm not your if you know that a certain kind of pickled herring was named

" Bismarck Herring " !

Quote:
Pickled herring, also known as bismarck herring, is a delicacy in Europe, and has become a part of Baltic, Nordic, Dutch, German (Bismarckhering), Polish (Śledzie), Eastern Slavic, Scottish and Jewish cuisine. Most cured herring uses a two-step curing process. Initially, herring is cured with salt to extract water. The second stage involves removing the salt and adding flavorings, typically a vinegar, salt, sugar solution to which ingredients like peppercorn, bay leaves and raw onions are added. In recent years other flavors have also been added, due to foreign influences. However, the tradition is strong in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, The Netherlands, Iceland and Germany. Onion, sherry, mustard and dill are some of the traditional flavourings.

Pickled herrings have been a staple in Northern Europe since Medieval times, being a way to store and transport fish, especially necessary in meatless periods like Lent. The herrings would be prepared, then packed in barrels for storage or transportation.

hbg, loved your Bismark March and thanks for the comment on my
German Shepherd. Never had any Bismark herring, buddy.

yitwail, Welcome back to you, too. Didn't know that one by Frank Zappa but I really loved Tony and Bill.

edgar, Harry doing Freud was fantastic as was Al doing Close your Eyes. (I think that was the name of the song)

Today is Leon Russell's birthday, so here is a tribute to him.

@hamburgboy,
Welcome back, hbg. That funny mouse song by Lou was great as was Louis' Angelina.

I used to think this classic by Strauss meant "the mouse" but it means a bat.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comments, edgar. We always try to introduce old classical music here on our radio.

Louis Prima is great and I never hear him that I don't think of Keely.

@edgarblythe,
No, I didn't know that, edgar.

I love Little Richard. Don't know Jenny Jenny, however. I guess my favorite by him is Long Tall Sally.

Here's a new face on the horizon to me, y'all. First some info on the birthday guy.

William Harold "Billy" Dean, Jr. (born April 2, 1962, in Quincy, Florida) is an American country music singer and songwriter. Billy Dean first gained national attention after appearing on the television talent competition Star Search. Active as a recording artist since 1990, he has recorded a total of eight studio albums (of which the first three have been certified gold by the RIAA) and a greatest hits package which is also certified gold. His studio albums have accounted for more than twenty hit singles on the Billboard country charts, including eleven Top Ten hits. Although he never reached the top of the Billboard country charts on his own, he reached Number One in 2000 as one of two guest vocalists on Kenny Rogers' "Buy Me a Rose", and had two Number Ones on the RPM country charts in Canada. He resides in Liberty, Tennessee.
