Thanks again for your comment, edgar. Don't know Green Day's Time of Your Life, but it was a goodie.

I think everyone knows Johnny Cash's A Boy named Sue. That was so funny.

Jerry Lee's Big Blon Blond Baby was great as well.

Today is this guy's birthday, and here's some info.

Michael Bolotin (born February 26, 1953), better known as Michael Bolton, is an American singer and songwriter. Bolton originally performed in the hard rock and heavy metal genres from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, both on his early solo albums and those he recorded as the frontman of the band Blackjack. He is best known, however, for his series of soft rock ballads, recorded after a stylistic change in the late 1980s. He is noted for his distinctive tenor/countertenor voice and "strained" vocal style.

Here he is doing an Aretha tribute.

You are right. I had to go rescue a person locked in his own bathroom. Both of his doors were locked with key less locks, meaning I was about to break his window, when he managed to get out and opened the door for me.
I listened to Nancy's song earlier. Mario's Student Prince song is one I have had in my collection since 1958 or 59.

here is a tribute to a Canadian songstress : Monique Leyrac .

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8AlbkLxgQ8

Quote:
"Mon pays" ("My Country", or "My Homeland", in English) is a song composed by Gilles Vigneault in 1964.

The song was written for the NFB film La Neige a fondu sur la Manicouagan, directed by Arthur Lamothe. The song, with its lyrics about winds, cold, snow, and ice, of the solitude of wide open spaces and of the ideal of brotherhood, has become a kind of anthem in Quebec, with many people seeing it as expressing the free spirit of the province; Vigneault, however, has denied that this was ever his intention.

Vigneault won the Prix Félix-Leclerc at the 1965 Festival du disque de Montréal for the song.[1] Later that same year, Monique Leyrac performed it at the International Song Festival in Sopot, Poland, taking first prize with it.

good night / good morning !

Dexter Gordon " in a sentimental mood " .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_egoBp1-EJ4

Quote:
Dexter Gordon (February 27, 1923 – April 25, 1990) was an American jazz tenor saxophonist. He was among the earliest tenor players to adapt the bebop musical language of people like Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, and Bud Powell to the instrument. His studio and live performance career spanned over 40 years.

Gordon's height was 6 feet 6 inches (198 cm), so he was also known as "Long Tall Dexter" and "Sophisticated Giant". He played a Conn 10M 'Ladyface' tenor[1] until it was stolen in a Paris airport in 1961. He then switched over to a Selmer Mark VI. His saxophone was fitted with an Otto Link metal mouthpiece, which can be seen in various photos.

edgar, Didn't know that one by by The Fab Four. Old Brown Shoe brought to mind Little Brown Jug. Razz

We'll Be the Ones to Make a Change was great. Too bad about her demise, Texas.

hbg, Strange. I don't know that one by Will, but the melody was familiar.

Didn't know Hagwood, Hardy, or Monique either, but as you know, I love German music, and the gal singing in French was good!

Now, Ontario, I do know Dexter Gordon. Here are the lyrics to his song.

In A Sentimental Mood I can see
the stars come thru my room
While your loving attitude is
like a flame that lights the gloom

On the wings of ev'ry kiss
Drift a melody so strange and sweet
In this sentimental bliss you make
my Paradise complete

Rose pearls seem to fall
It's all like a dream to call you mine
My heart's lighter thing since you
made me this night a thing divine

In A Sentimental Mood
I'm within a world so heavenly
For I never dreamt that you'd be
loving sentimental me.

If you already showed us the lyrics, sorry.

Had another vertigo problem today, but it's a mite better. Hope that I didn't miss anyone.

Today is Josh Groban's birthday, so here is one by him.

msletty ,

i'm quite sure that if you listen to the orchesteral version ( here from : Last Night at the Proms - from Royal Albert Hall in London ) you'll have no trouble realizing it is " The Sailor's Hornpipe " dance .

Quote:
The Sailor's Hornpipe (also known as The College Hornpipe and Jack's the Lad[1]) is a traditional hornpipe melody.
................................................................
During the Last Night of the Proms in London, the spectators bring miniature foghorns and party horns and blow them along to the music, creating a loud, frenetic finale as the music reaches its fastest speed.[6]

let's celebrate the birthday of Mirella Freni - one of the great opera stars :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ow1niq0mOwE

Quote:
Mirella Freni (Italian pronunciation: [miˈrɛlːa ˈfreːni]), birth name Mirella Fregni, (born 27 February 1935, Modena, Italy) is an Italian opera soprano whose repertoire includes Verdi, Puccini, Mozart and Tchaikovsky. Freni was married for many years to the Bulgarian bass Nicolai Ghiaurov, with whom she performed and recorded

( i know that we have played this song many times before - so far i have not become tired of it )

@hamburgboy,
hbg, the problem with me is that I know the melody, but not the name of it.

I think the opera lady was doing My Beautiful Baby.

Thanks for the observation about my vertigo.

First, there were many hymns in your first one, and here is one that I do know.

Also recognized The A Train and I'm Always Chasing Rainbows.
