@edgarblythe,
Thanks for the comment, edgar. Had no idea Harry did Forever Young. Good one.

Only two Beatles left. Ringo and Paul.

Loved George's voice.

RAMONA
...................
It was created as the title song for the 1928 adventure film-romance Ramona (based on the novel Ramona by Helen Hunt Jackson). The song was used again in the 1936 remake of the movie. Ramona was recorded in 1928 by Dolores del Río for the film. Gene Austin's version charted for 17 weeks, eight weeks at #1, and easily topped a million in sales.[2]
On record it was a popular hit, usually performed as a romantic ballad, sometimes with a Latin inflection by "Whispering" Jack Smith and, in an idiosyncratic arrangement recorded on 4 January 1928, the Paul Whiteman Orchestra. The Paul Whiteman version, Victor 21214-A, featuring Bix Beiderbecke on cornet, was #1 for 3 weeks on the Billboard charts in 1928. Gene Austin's recording was #1 for 8 weeks the same year. Ruth Etting recorded a version also that reached #10[3] It was a German number one hit in 1960 for the Blue Diamonds, arranged in an upbeat style similar to the Everly Brothers recordings of that period. A few years later it was a UK hit for The Bachelors. Singer Billy Walker revived the song for the country market in 1968, reaching the top 10 of the US country charts.

RAMONA (Lyrics)

Sings: Dolores del Río
Written for her film "Ramona" (1928)
(Mabel Wayne / L. Wolfe Gilbert)

I wander out yonder o'er the hills
Where the mountains high, seem to kiss the sky
Someone's up yonder o'er the hills
Waiting patiently, waiting just for me

Ramona, I hear the mission bells above
Ramona, they're ringing out our song of love
I press you, caress you
And bless the day you taught me to care
I'll always remember
The rambling rose you wore in your hair

Ramona, when the day is done you'll hear my call
Ramona, we'll meet beside the waterfall
I dread the dawn
When I awake to find you gone
Ramona, I need you, my own

Ramona, when the day is done you'll hear my call
Ramona, we'll meet beside the waterfall
I dread the dawn
When I awake to find you gone
Ramona, I need you, my own

Quote:
Ramona, we'll meet beside the waterfall

edgar, Love I'll Follow the Sun by the fab four.

hbg, thanks for the info on Ramona and the lovely waterfall photo. I checked out Helen Hunt Jackson, and she wrote a book about the mistreatment of the American Indians in California.

Here's an updated version

@edgarblythe,
I never listened to him either until that report from Bob.

Love Stories of the Street by Cohen was great, edgar.

Met a couple from Austria here where I live and it prompted me to play this one.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for the comment, edgar. The Shadow of Your Smile is a great version of Sand Piper's Trace. Tony does a good job with it.

Going to say goodnight with two songs.

First, The Oscar Peterson trio.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-u2G9xPi9o

and, the lyrics:

Saturday night is the loneliest night in the week
'Cause that's the night that my sweetie and I
Used to dance cheek to cheek
I don't mind Sunday night at all
'Cause that's the night friends come to call
And Monday to Friday go fast
And another week is past

But Saturday night is the loneliest night in the week
I sing the song that I sang for the memories I usually seek
Until I hear you at the door
Until you're in my arms once more
Saturday night is the loneliest night in the week

Now, In a Persian Market.

Well, if the world won't come to us, we'll go to the world.

edgar, Thanks again for your comment on what we play here. Around the World by Buddy was great. Sailor's Horn Pipe by Popeye was funny. Laurel and Hardy doing Shine on Harvest Moon was a surprise. Also liked your morning song written by the "boss". Didn't know Blinded by the Light.

hbg, For some reason, I know Codfish Ball. It was a great one.

Ah, Ontario. I think most of us know Michel Le Grand. Love him. Teresa doing Jilted was new to me, too.

Here's an acoustic guitar playing I Will Wait For You.

and, Henry Mancini doing Windmills

One that I didn't know by that creative composer.

Sorry for being late to the studio, but didn't sleep too well last evening thinking about that poor woman who was killed.
