Before I bought Steely Dan records, Reelin in the Years was the only song of theirs I could name.
The other song is unfamiliar, but nice.

edgar, The Orlons' Don't Hang Up, showed the evolution of the telephone. Love it.

Hurry Back, Texas. I really enjoyed Donovan's Hamstead Incident. The lyrics were fantastic as they created a picture in my head.

hbg, I know George and Teresa's Under The Bamboo Tree. Thanks again for the memory jog.

Today is this guy's birthday. First, some info.

Peter Brian Gabriel is an English singer, musician, and songwriter who rose to fame as the lead vocalist and flautist of the progressive rock group Genesis. After leaving Genesis, Gabriel went on to a successful solo career.

I chose this funny song, because I loved frogs when I was just a wee thing.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for restoring our signal, edgar. I know that song, but with different lyrics.

Today is this guy's birthday, and I think I'll play it here and in your songs that tell stories forum.

@Letty,
Ford also recorded the following, along with Frankie Laine and a few other artists, including Gene Autry.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I know Mule Train, but the only thing that I remember by Gene is High Noon. Didn't know that Tennessee Ernie did it.

Here's another mule.

Love those old photos

Odd, that's not the melody that I recall, however.

@edgarblythe,
Love that version by "the boss", however. In grade school? Maybe that's where those old photos came from, edgar. Razz

Sonny and Brownie did an old version of this one, Texas.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_94hrye_vW4

now, y'all, the lyrics.

I hate to see that evening sun go down,
I hate to see that evening sun go down,
'Cause my lovin' baby done left this town.

If I feel tomorrow, like I feel today,
If I feel tomorrow, like I feel today,
I'm gonna pack my trunk and make my getaway.

Oh, that St. Louis woman, with her diamond rings,
She pulls my man around by her apron strings.
And if it wasn't for powder and her store-bought hair,
Oh, that man of mine wouldn't go nowhere.

I got those St. Louis blues, just as blue as I can be,
Oh, my man's got a heart like a rock cast in the sea,
Or else he wouldn't have gone so far from me.

I love my man like a schoolboy loves his pie,
Like a Kentucky colonel loves his rocker and rye
I'll love my man until the day I die, Lord, Lord.

I got the St. Louis blues, just as blue as I can be, Lord, Lord!
That man's got a heart like a rock cast in the sea,
Or else he wouldn't have gone so far from me.

I got those St. Louis blues, I got the blues, I got the blues, I got the blues,
My man's got a heart like a rock cast in the sea,
Or else he wouldn't have gone so far from me, Lord, Lord!

@edgarblythe,
Don't know that one by Roy Hamilton, edgar, but You Can Have Her was good

I matched your Valentine's Day with Cupid Draw back your Bow. It's a goodie.

Going to say goodnight with two songs.

First, Heart of my Heart.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1o-bMAu3PgU

Now, another great Canadian, Diana.

For Anna: I know Danny's heart will be okay. I have been where you have been.
