" Hi , Tex ! "

Quote:
Gordon Lee "Tex" Beneke (February 12, 1914 – May 30, 2000[1][2]) was an American saxophonist, singer, and bandleader. His career is a history of associations with bandleader Glenn Miller and former musicians and singers who worked with Miller. His band is also associated with the careers of Eydie Gorme, Henry Mancini and Ronnie Deauville. Beneke also solos on the recording the Glenn Miller Orchestra made of their popular song, "In The Mood" and sings on another popular Glenn Miller recording, "Chattanooga Choo Choo". Jazz critic Will Friedwald considers Beneke to be one of the major blues singers who sang with the big bands of the early 1940s.[3][4]

edgar, Thanks again for your comment and your goodnight song by the sassy Sarah was excellent. Can't believe that I'll Be Loving you Eternally was from Charlie Chaplin's Limelight.

Also loved Link's Rumble. Don't know him, so once again, thanks for the introduction. Hurry back.

Welcome back hbg. Thanks again for the info on Tex, and Hey Ba Ba Re Bop was great. Love the oldies.

Today is this guy's birthday and you may remember him best with Kenny.

@edgarblythe,
You probably remember the birthday guy best with The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan, edgar. I love that Traveling Boy by Art. It is truly lovely. When you mentioned Hank Snow awhile back as There's a Fool Such as I, I thought about the first one that I had heard by him, so here is one to match Art's.

Maybe edgar will remember the duet that Michael McDonald did with Patti LaBelle.

Well I never listened much to the Dooby Brothers and although I have Steely Dan's albums, never checked out the band members.

edgar, Thanks again for your comments. Loved Hugh Masekela and Paul doing their song.

hbg, Bandy the Rodeo Clown was great as was Dottie Talking to the Wall. Especially enjoyed the trio from The American Musical Sing for your Supper.

Reminded me of a nursery rhyme.

Little Tommy Tucker
Sing for your supper.
What shall he sing for?
White bread and butter.
How can he cut it
Without any knife?
How can he marry
Without any wife?

Here's one by The Doobie Brothers.

and, since it is Abe Lincoln's birthday, a trailer from Daniel Day Lewis' movie.

I didn't watch the Lincoln trailer, because I want it all to be new when I finally see the movie.
