Busy today. Made two runs to get rid of trapped squirrels, then sat with the wife in a clinic and forever in a drugstore. (She has bronchitis).

edgar, I Remember that theme from To Sir With Love, and it was great. I really loved Sidney Poitier and LuLu was good singing it. Sidney was the first Afro to win an academy award for Lilies of the Field.

George, Thanks for your comment. Really enjoyed Eric Clapton doing Before You Accuse Me plus Joe Cocker doing Unchain My Heart.

I, too, hope your wife does better, edgar.

Going to say goodnight a bit early, as I'm not feeling well. First, The Lilies of the Field reminded me of this round that we sang as kids in elementary school.

Now one of my favorites for children.

So nice having Ontario with us today. Hope our dear Dutchy/Danny does well and hope that Rockhead is alright, too.

@edgarblythe,
edgar :
sorry to hear your wife isn't feeling well , edgar !
having bronchitis is NO fun !!!

( just at the tail-end of a nasty cold myself - used lots-and-lots of
Kleenex - increasing my daily vit C intake from 1,000 to 1,500 mg , i think helped me turn the corner a bit earlier - even though my doctor states : " vit C is USELESS in fighting a cold " - i beg to differ )

sure hope your BETTER half will weather her bronchites attack without too many difficulties .

take good care of your wife , ed !

i wish her a speedy recovery !

some more fun music for tonight !

Quote:
Anthony James "Lonnie" Donegan MBE (29 April 1931 – 3 November 2002[1]) was a Scottish-born skiffle musician, with more than 20 UK Top 30 hits to his name. He is known as the "King of Skiffle" and is often cited as a major influence on the generation of British musicians who became famous in the 1960s.[2][3] The Guinness Book of British Hit Singles & Albums states Donegan was "Britain's most successful and influential recording artist before The Beatles. He chalked up 24 successive Top 30 hits, and was the first UK male to score two U.S. Top 10s".[

Paul Revere & the Raiders are an American rock band that saw considerable U.S. mainstream success in the second half of the 1960s and early 1970s with hits such as "Kicks" (1966; ranked number 400 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time), "Hungry" (1966), "Him Or Me - What's It Gonna Be?" (1967) and the 1971 No. 1 single "Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian)".

@hamburgboy,
I always thought that Lonnie Donegan was Australian. Maybe he lived his childhood in both countries. But his accent was not Scottish.

He didn't principally sing comedy songs. He made his name singing Woody Guthrie, Leadbelly, solid stuff.

Here's "Rock Island Line"

In that radio spot I mentioned (more synchronicity, amazing) I played Lonnie's version of Woody Guthrie's "Grand Coulee Dam".

Thanks again for your comment, edgar. Loved If I Lose, and, of course your morning song, On The Street Where You Live by Vic.

hbg, Leaning on the Lamp Post and My old Man's a Dustman was great. Paul Revere and the Raiders was wonderful, too. Reminds me of the poem.

Welcome back, McTag. I know The Rock Island Line but not The Grand Coulee Dam.

Somehow, hbg's Lamp Post song reminded me of The Old Lamplighter. Need to check that out.

Today's birthday guy. David Bowie. Really like him.

Here's a tribute to the man.

I never saw the movie The Snake Pit, but here is a wonderful song from it.

I actually was in Japan when Kyu's song made the charts. I still have the record I bought of it.

@edgarblythe,
I had forgotten that you were in Japan. I knew that song, and sent Satt a piano with the notes on it, and he told me what it was.

I love that one by Donovan, edgar, and the visuals told a story of Camelot.

Today is Dame Shirley Bassey's birthday (there is nothing like a dame Razz )so here is that fantastic vocalist singing two songs. My favorite James Bond is still Sean Connery.
