Hurry back, Barry. Black Cow by Steely Dan was one that I didn't know. Thanks again for the introduction.

@McTag,
Welcome back MacTag. Love that Christmas song by Steeleye Span. Odd, because I was just checking out the patois of The Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Didn't your Span Band do this one?

@Letty,

No indeed, but Maddy has recorded a lot.

Here's a hymn we used to lustily sing when I was in the Boys' Brigade.

@McTag,
Fantastic, McTag. Poets and musicians unite; we have nothing to lose but our claims. Razz

I sang this one at a small country church in Virginia.

Thanks for restoring our signal, edgar. Summertime Love by Harry was great of course, but had a few glitches. Thanks once again for your comment.

@edgarblythe,
I don't think that I have ever heard Nat do a bad one, edgar. Just saw that it came from a movie. I saw it, but don't recall much about it.

I checked it out, however.

Is that the one, Texas? If so, here is Stevie Wonder singing A Place in the Sun.

@wandeljw,
Welcome back, Goethe. Barry the Brit and I discussed that movie. I think it did rather well at the box office. Good theme.

While we await edgar to answer by question, here is another birthday boy, but first some info.

Sam Sparro (born 8 November 1982) is an Australian singer-songwriter, music producer, and former child actor. His stage name was derived from a family nickname, which in turn was inspired by the Dagenham radio mascot Sammy Sparrow. He is signed to the British record label Island Records

This is a good one by him.

Welcome back, Brit. That one by Adele was great. Funny about your having been a choir boy (paid of course). Love Martin Luther's A Mighty Fortress is Our God. He never meant to leave the Roman Catholic Church, just convince them to quit usury.

edgar, Ah, that one by Dinah was the same one that Nat did. Thanks for the explanation about the movie.

Going to say goodnight a bit early as it is pitch black and still chilly. (that's what I had for supper, Chili) Razz

One of my favorite songs.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_gSydN_BYM&feature=related

and, the lyrics.

I'd rather be a sparrow than a snail.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.
I'd rather be a hammer than a nail.
Yes I would.
If I only could,
I surely would.

CHORUS
Away, I'd rather sail away
Like a swan that's here and gone
A man gets tied up to the ground,
he gives the world
its saddest sound,
its saddest sound.

I'd rather be a forest than a street.
Yes I would.
If I could,
I surely would.

I'd rather feel the earth beneath my feet,
Yes I would.
If I only could,
I surely would.

Great having Scotland and London and Wandel via Germany with us today

From Letty with love and delight
