@edgarblythe,
As you know, edgar, I love Marty, and that ballad of Bill Thaxton was about a real man, it seems.

Thinking of Halloween, and The Lost Boys, so how about this one.

This was inspired by Rockhead and Mismi

Wonderful, Barry. Have a great time with Elsa

Enjoyed all three of those songs, especially Call Me the Breeze.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

good morning msletty , ed and all other listeners !
a great pianist has his birthday today : Art Tatum !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0ozrySMHhc&feature=related

Quote:
Arthur "Art" Tatum, Jr. (/ˈteɪtəm/, October 13, 1909 – November 5, 1956) was an American jazz pianist and virtuoso who played with phenomenal facility despite being nearly blind since birth.

Tatum is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time[1] and he was a major influence on later generations of jazz pianists. He was noted for the complexity and speed of his performances, which set a new standard for jazz piano virtuosity. Critic Scott Yanow wrote, "Tatum's quick reflexes and boundless imagination kept his improvisations filled with fresh (and sometimes futuristic) ideas that put him way ahead of his contemporaries ... Art Tatum's recordings still have the ability to scare modern pianists."[

it is also the birthday of Nana Mouskouri today
( i remember a great performance she gave in Ottawa many years ago )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WoXaFZpcDY&feature=fvwrel

Quote:
Nana Mouskouri (Greek: Nάνα Μούσχουρη, pronounced [ˈnana ˈmusxuɾi]), born Iōánna Moúschouri (Greek: Ιωάννα Μούσχουρη, [ioˈana ˈmusxuɾi] on October 13, 1934, in Chania, Crete, Greece) is a Greek singer who has sold between 200 and 300 million records worldwide, being one of the best-selling female artists of all time in a career spanning over five decades.[1] Known as "Nána" to her friends and family as a child (note that in Greek her surname is pronounced with the stress on the first syllable – MOOS-hoo-ree – rather than the second).

Having a rather distinctive, angelic soprano, the product of having been born with only one vocal cord, Mouskouri was sometimes described as Europe's answer to Barbra Streisand. Her repertoire supported the universal appeal she aimed for: jazz standards, well-known pop tunes from before and after the rock era, French cabaret chansons, movie songs, classical and operatic repertory, religious music, folk songs from her native Greece and elsewhere.[2]

She has recorded songs in many languages, including Greek, French, English, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Hebrew, Welsh, Mandarin Chinese, Maori and Turkish.

Fantastic music played on our radio, folks.

edgar, Charlie's Down by the Riverside was a wonderful way to say goodnight. Hurry back, Texas, and thanks for your comments.

hbg, listened to all of your great contributions. I guess my favorites were Nana's White Rose of Athens; Art Tatum's Tea for Two, and especially Yackety Sax. That lovely lady was really good. It always amazes me when a female plays a brass instrument.

Today in Cornel Wilde's birthday, and what a fantastic talent was he.

The first movie that I saw by him was The Naked Prey. Here's some info.

A group of men are on safari. One of the party refuses to give a gift to a tribe they encounter. The tribe is offended, seizes the party, and one-by-one, kills all but one of the safari members in various creative and horrifying ways. The last surviving member is given "The Lion's Chance" by the tribal leader to be hunted down by a party of tribal warriors. Naked and weaponless he is set loose, the hunters hot on his heels, beginning a life-or-death hunt through wild Africa.

Let's watch and listen to part of the movie as it comes to a dramatic end.
