it's also the birthday of Freddy Quinn ( born in vienna , austria ) one of the most popular german entertainers .

probably everyone knows " Lili Marleen " .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Z1C2vwOiRE

Quote:
Freddy Quinn (born Franz Eugen Helmut Manfred Nidl, 27 September 1931, Niederfladnitz, Austria) is an Austrian singer and actor whose popularity within the German-speaking world soared in the late 1950s and 1960s. Similar to Hans Albers two generations before him, Quinn adopted the persona of the rootless wanderer who goes to sea but longs for a home, family and friends. Quinn's Irish-sounding name comes from his Irish born salesman father, Johann Quinn. His mother, Edith Henriette Nidl, was an Austrian journalist. He is often associated with the Schlager scene.

edgar, loved your goodnight song Senor by "the jester", and you hurry back, Texas. Had no idea that Harry did I'm Just a Country Boy. Great one by the multi- linguist man.

hbg, Really, really loved Randy Bachman's jazz version of Summertime, and Freddy Quinn's Lili Marleen and La Paloma were simply beautiful.

Big old full moon last night. Going to be a sun shiny day today.

Thinking of Don Ho and Hawaii. Here are a couple by him.

@hamburgboy,
Great one by Mary, hbg. Love that minor key, Ontario. That's true with all Mammas, methinks.

Here's a different version of a condor.

My goodness, the condor has chased everyone away.

Perhaps a partridge can chase him away.

Happy Birthday, Shaun.

@edgarblythe,
and thank you, edgar, for restoring our signal and for your comments.

Just as a reminder, I did more research on the Grammer man. (glad it's not spelled grammar Razz )

Billy Wayne Grammer was an American country music singer and noted guitar player. He was known for the million-selling "Gotta Travel On", which made it onto both the country and pop music charts in 1959.

Great one by Billy, edgar, and I just noticed that he did Bonaparte's Retreat. Love it.

Well, here's another Billy with "the boss". Hope Mr. Joel is recovering from his bad habits.

@George,
Welcome back, Latin George. Wasn't that Japanese version great? I love Oriental music.

You sent me searching again.

The Avett Brothers are a rock band from Concord, North Carolina. The band is made up of two brothers, Scott Avett and Seth Avett, who play the banjo and guitar respectively, and Bob Crawford who plays the stand-up bass.

Great one by those banjo pickers, and here's one to match.

Odd, my mamma played banjo, and my daddy worked on the railroad.

alex, you sent me searching as well.

ThePianoGuys is an American YouTube channel consisting of Jon Schmidt, Steven Sharp Nelson, Tel Stewart, Paul Anderson and Al van der Beek. They became famous through YouTube, where they posted videos of renditions and mashups of popular songs accompanied by professional-looking video shot and edited by Paul Anderson and Tel Stewart. In December 2011 they released their first album.

They were fabulous, my friend. listened twice.

Welcome back to you as well, John of Virginia. You'll have to inform us about The Jack White Concert.

Speaking of cellos, here is a great on by Pablo Casal

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back and hurry back, dear Barry.

That Swan Lake finale was a chiller. Love Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers as well as Dubussey's Clair de Lune. There's a big old full moon hanging over my head tonight.

Going to say goodnight with Nat, but first some info.

A painting attributed to Leonardo da Vinci and representing Mona Lisa is seen during a preview presentation in a vault in Onex near Geneva, Wednesday, September 26, 2012. The Mona Lisa Foundation, a non-profit organisation based in Zurich, will present September 27, a painting and historical, comparative and scientific evidence, which demonstrate that there have always been two portraits of the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci,
the "Earlier Version", made 10 years earlier than the "Joconde" that is displayed in Le Louvre in Paris.

http://www.thejakartapost.com/files/images2/Monalisa.main%20story.jpg

In the first version, Mona Lisa has been distorted, so it pays to see the lovely version.

Now, Nat again

What a talent with intelligence; so under rated.

Great seeing all of you today on WA2K.

Just as Disney noted,

From Letty with love
