@hamburgboy,
hbg, welcome back to you as well. Love Marty Robbins and A White Sport Coat and a Pink Carnation was great. Also like the one by Tommy Hunter called Travelin' Man. Don't know him, so thanks for the introduction. Good one by that fiddle player as well.

Here's one of my favorites by Marty.

@Letty,
mornin' , letty !
here - once more - is Marty Robbins ,
bringing greetings from "The Red River Valley " :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIE70rE6mj8&feature=related

Quote:
The Red River Valley is a region in central North America that is drained by the Red River of the North. It is significant in the geography of North Dakota, Minnesota, and Manitoba for its relatively fertile lands and the population centers of Fargo, Moorhead, Grand Forks, and Winnipeg. Paleogeographic Lake Agassiz laid down the Red River Valley silts.

@hamburgboy,
hbg, I loved your log rolling song. Did you know that in America the meaning

is the trading of favors, or quid pro quo.

Also love Marty's The Red River Valley and your great description.

So here is a quid pro quo for your waltz.

I have an extensive collection o0f Marty Robbins music, all on vinyl. All of his songs played here are in it. I was going to play something by him, but instead have this by the late Andy Williams

@edgarblythe,
I love The Battle Hymn of the Republic, edgar. Had no idea Andy did that one, however.

RIP Andy. Some songs I liked by him, some I didn't. I guess I liked Moon River because Johnny Mercer and Henry Mancini did that beautiful song. He did Canadian Sunset as well.

Another birthday girl.

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Barry. I didn't even know there was an Andy Williams show. He really sounded great in those days.

I figured that you would like Moon River, and so do I, but I have already explained why.

We can't let the day go by without a tribute to this marvelous composer.

@Letty,
Sad to hear of Andy. I was just looking at a photo gallery on his official web site, it's like a who's who of greats.

His first top ten hit. Canadian Sunset.

I liked a lot of Andy's songs. But I preferred Moon River and Canadian Sunset by other artists.
Gershwin wrote many songs I like. If all he had done was Porgy and Bess I would have respected him.

edgar, Thanks again for your comments. Didn't know that one by Marty, however. The first one that I heard by him was The Big Iron on his Hip. Think that's the name of it.

Well, Brit, didn't know The London Jazz Four. They were great!

Speaking of London. Today is this lady's birthday.

Latin George, Bonnie Raitt's Take My Love With You was great. Nice to have you back with us.

Hey, Brit. Don't know Tom and Peggy. Good one, London, and thanks for the introduction.

euroGeorge, I had no idea that Andy did that one. Love it! Sleep well, Irish.

Hope I didn't miss anyone. What a great mix of music on WA2K today.

Going to say goodnight now with two songs. First Ella does one by Gershwin.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYEeAOTIQ2c&feature=related

and, yawl, as synchronicity would have it, two songs by The Lettermen.

Ah, I remember Can't Take My Eyes off of You as a tribute to Rudolph Valentino.

Great having London, Ireland, Ontario with us.

From Letty with love to all of you, everywhere
