Top o' the Morning to ya....

Grant me a sense of humor, Lord,
the saving grace to see a joke,
To win some happiness from life,
And pass it on to other folks. Mr. Green

Good Wodin's Day (Wednesday) from Florida.

hbg, my favorite by you was The Buckinghams' Mercy, Mercy, Mercy.

Wish I could comment on each song played here, but suffice it to say I listened to every one of them.

McTag, "Joe Greene" and Glen did a great job on that anvil.

euro, The Commodores know about "the graveyard shift".

edgar, hurry back.

I was awakened in the night hearing this lady on my TV. That's the reason I'm a bit woozy. Hard to go back to sleep. Here's some info on the lady.

Maxine Nightingale (born 2 November 1952; Wembley, London, is a British R&B and soul music singer. She is best known for her hits in the 1970s, with the million seller "Right Back Where We Started From" (1975, U.K. & 1976, U.S.), "Love Hit Me" (1977), and "Lead Me On" (1979).

@Letty,
Hi Miss Letty and a Good Wodin's Day to you.

Loved Maxine Nightingale, that song lived up to it's name and actually brought me ' Right Back Where I Started From'.
That was out around the time I started my disco days. Smile

@eurocelticyankee,
Hey, Irish. Thanks for restoring our signal and your comment about Maxine. Music does something for all of us. Don't know Jack Johnson's Better Together, but it was great , especially the visuals.

How about a little country for the afternoon here in Florida. euro's song reminded me of this one. Ray Charles did it as well.

Ray Charles recorded a second version in duet with Barbra Striesand. I prefer Buck on this one.

@edgarblythe,
Welcome back, edgar. Didn't know that about Ray.

I'm assuming that "the jester" did a cover of Buck on that one. Don't know Gotta Serve Somebody.

Here's a funny duet, yawl. Gave me a much needed smile.

I was refering to Buck's song, not Serve Somebody, a Dylan original.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for clearing up Buck and The Jester, edgar, and thanks again for your comments.

The Angel by Buffy is really good. Her voice has strength and beauty.

Today is John Lee Hooker's birthday, so here is a tribute to Mr. Blues.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for the comment, edgar. That is the BEST that I have ever heard Jerry Lee sing. Love The Green Green Grass of Home, too.

I don't know this kid, but It's Howie Dorough and he was/is a member of the Back Street Boys and was born in Orlando, Fl. Today is his birthday, so let's listen to a tribute.

today is birthday of Josef Strauss ( one of the three Strauss brothers ) .

Quote:
Josef Strauss (August 20, 1827 – July 22, 1870) was an Austrian composer.

He was born in Vienna, the son of Johann Strauss I and Maria Anna Streim, and brother of Johann Strauss II and Eduard Strauss. His father wanted him to choose a career in the Austrian Habsburg military. He studied music with Franz Dolleschal and learned to play the violin with Franz Anton Ries.

He received training as an engineer, and worked for the city of Vienna as an engineer and designer. He designed a horse-drawn revolving brush street-sweeping vehicle and published two textbooks on mathematical subjects.[1] Strauss had talents as an artist, painter, poet, dramatist, singer, composer and inventor.

i played his Anvil Polka earlier - here it is again played by the " Salt Miners Band of Bad Ischl ( Austria ) " .
( it is quite common in europe for members of a busineess , or a fire or police department or the railways , to have their own band or orchestra . best known are the British Miners Bands . )

@Barry The Mod,
Love that one by Sir Elton and Aretha, Brit. Rather reminds me of a border collie that I used to have.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First, since it Claude Debussy's birthday.

Clair de Lune

Now, Beethoven.

and another birthday today - that of John Lee Hooker :

Quote:
John Lee Hooker (August 22, 1917 – June 21, 2001) was a highly influential American blues singer-songwriter and guitarist.

Hooker began his life as the son of a sharecropper, William Hooker, and rose to prominence performing his own unique style of what was originally a unique brand of country blues. He developed a 'talking blues' style that was his trademark. Though similar to the early Delta blues, his music was metrically free. John Lee Hooker could be said to embody his own unique genre of the blues, often incorporating the boogie-woogie piano style and a driving rhythm into his blues guitar playing and singing. His best known songs include "Boogie Chillen'" (1948), "I'm in the Mood" (1951) and "Boom Boom" (1962), the first two reaching R&B #1 in the Billboard charts.
