@Letty,
That was serious drumming, Miss Letty. That man knew his triplets.

I was there when we all went to New York City, but don't recall one thing about it.
A Cosmopolitan or two maybe..... Wink

Really admire Robert Plant as a singer, powerful voice. But I don't always enjoy his choice of material.
I don't drink but on a nice day, like it is today I do fancy a Tall Cool One.

euro, I love Kris. Didn't know that one by him, but it was great. My daughter went to see him not long ago in Charlottesville, Virginia. She told me that he was still good in spite of his age. My favorite by him was Me and Bobby McGee.

I was in my late teens when we all went to New York, buddy. I recall only Art Blakey at Birdland, and George Shearing at the Embers. Oh, yes. Basin Street East as well. Didn't know a thing about them, and my future husband, Bud, had to explain stuff like that. (had to tell my mom we had a chaperone/duenna) Razz

Morgan, Welcome back. Odd, buddy, I only remember that the song was of the hippie generation. We've discussed that before. Scott did a great job.

Today is Isaac Hayes, birthday. Anyone remember Shaft?

I could have sworn there was a thread for Scott Mackenzie, but now I can't find it. Thanks for playing his big hit.

@edgarblythe,
edgar. If You Go to San Francisco is one of my favorites.

Thanks for your comment on Isaac, buddy, and thanks for restoring our signal.

Speaking of buddy, Didn't Know that one by Buddy Holly, but it reminded me of this one by James and Carly in better times.

Don't know much about most of Tony's movies. I have known suicidal people in the past and still don't know why they choose that out.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for keeping us on the air, edgar. The death of Tony is still being investigated. The only reason that I watched Top Gun was because Val Kilmer was the ice man.

Tecumseh Valley by Nancy and Arlo was great and really tells a story.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First, one made popular by Simon and Garfunkel.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRMhTJCZerA&feature=related

Now, Midnight Sun by Dee Dee Bridgewater.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OF0othfEUZU&feature=related

No wonder I like this song. Lyrics by Johnny Mercer and music by two great jazz instrumentalists.

Nice to have the Sunday folks from Canada with us and also Dublin and London.

From Letty with love to all

Thanks, edgar, for your comment. Loved that one by "the jester" doing a tribute to George Jackson, and your goodnight song by Judy, Someday Soon was excellent. Love that one by her.

hbg, did I catch you before you went to bed? Hope so. Justin Tubb's Lucky Me was great country. I guess my favorite that you played was Oscar and the Count's Slow Blues.

Odd little occurrence for me. I was sleeping and was awakened by a beautiful gold ribbon hanging over my head. I reach up and grabbed it. Dreams are odd, yawl.

Two songs for the early morning here. First, a tribute to a birthday man.

Uh-Oh. Don't fall in love with a dreamer?

Just discovered that Wynonna's husband lost his leg in an accident and she canceled her concert in Canada. How sad.

Now, one of my favorite jazz tunes that ranks right up there with Oscar and the Duke.

Good morning, folks. I discovered yesterday that William Windom has died. I loved his portrayal of the James Thurber-based character in a TV series called My World and Welcome to It. He was in countless TV roles and I believe had a recurring character in one Star Trek incarnation.
See you all later.

Barry, Now I know why I awakened to that golden ribbon. It was my answer to your Olympics golden torch. Loved the tribute to Newton Faulkner.

Hurry back, edgar. Don't really remember William, but I most certainly remember Thurber's My World and Welcome to it.

Today is the birthday of Aubrey Beardsley. He was different, all right.

edgar, That was a fantastic slide show of ship wrecks. I remember seeing this guy's ship at The Outer Banks of North Carolina.

euro, The reason that I have never broken a bone is because of all the milk that I drank and still drink. Loved Herman and the Hermits' No Milk Today.

I noticed in the corner of the slide show, "the all seeing eye". Rolling Eyes

so here is our dumb news of the day on WA2K.
