Barry, couldn't get your Friends Having Fun to play here. Loved Early Roman Kings by the "jester"

euro, Christy Moor's Ride on was great.

Our Brit's Jester song's melody reminded me of this one

edgar, thanks again for your comments. Don't know that one by dear Buddy Holly but it was a good one.

euro, That was The Terminator, buddy.

Saying goodnight with two songs.

First, a new face on the horizon and here's some info on the man.

Andrew John "Drew" Lachey is an American singer and actor, known as a member of 98 Degrees, the winner of the second season of Dancing with the Stars, and is the younger brother of Nick Lachey.

Now, the song.

Night Life is to me one of Willie's better songs. The other song you played is pretty good.
I did not comment on Randy Travis earlier - I said early on in my I Think thread Randy sings like he's groaning with a deep bellyache most of the time. I have come to tolerate some of his best records, but I am in no way a fan.

good morning all listeners !
dropping by to wish a Happy Birthday to the british composer
William Ketelbey .

here is " in a Persian Market " - soothing music and beautiful visuals :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ede2QMi5JM

Quote:
Albert William Ketèlbey (9 August 1875 – 26 November 1959), born Ketelbey, was an English composer, conductor and pianist.

Ketèlbey was born in Alma Street in the Lozells area of Birmingham, England, the son of an engraver, George Henry Ketelbey (written with no accent), and Sarah Ann Aston.[1] At the age of eleven he wrote a piano sonata that won praise from Edward Elgar. Ketèlbey gained a scholarship to the Trinity College of Music[2] in London, where he showed his talent for playing various orchestral instruments reflected in the masterfully colourful orchestration, especially of oriental inspiration, that became his trademark. At Trinity he beat Gustav Holst in competition for a musical scholarship. He used the pseudonyms Raoul Clifford and Anton Vodorinski for some of his works[3] (some reference books mistakenly give Vodorinski as his true name and Ketèlbey as the pseudonym). His name is frequently misspelt Ketelby.

edgar, thanks for the observation. Loved Stonewall Jackson's Don't Be Angry.

hbg, In a Persian Market was fantastic as were the visuals. Ah, Persia and Iran. Met a guy from there not too long ago.

Hey, Brit. Yep, James Brown is the godfather of soul. Loved Out of Sight by him.

Today is Whitney Houston's birthday. Very sad about the lady, so here is a tribute to her.

Thanks for restoring our signal, edgar.

I think it was you that told me it was Dolly Parton that originally did I Will Always Love you, and it was for Porter Wagoner.

Don't know Dorsey Burnett, but Rainin' was a good one. Rather reminded me of Buddy Holly's Raining in my Heart.

Today is Robert Shaw's birthday, and I only remember him as Quint in Jaws. What a surprise to find out the other movies in which he was a star.

Robert Archibald Shaw (9 August 1927 – 28 August 1978) was an English actor and novelist, remembered for his performances in From Russia with Love (1963), A Man for All Seasons (1966), The Sting (1973), the original The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974), Black Sunday (1977), The Deep (1977) and Jaws (1975), where he played the shark hunter Quint.

Here's a tribute to that fine actor.

I might have seen him in Jaws, a film I have only seen in bits and pieces on TV. Never have watched the other ones mentioned.

@edgarblythe,
I had never seen any of those other either, edgar. That's why I was so surprised. To me, Jaws was just a poor man's Moby Dick.

Don't know Chuck Willis' Betty and Dupree. Thanks for the introduction. How did you sanitize that? Clorox? Razz

Well, we did David, now here is the other half of the X Files.
