@eurocelticyankee,
euro, Great song by The Yardbirds. Speaking of Sherlock, don't bother watching the Robert Downey version of it once, let alone twice. Shocked

Breaking news: Remember The Hot Zone? It was about the Ebola virus carried by the monkeys in Reston, Virginia. There's been another outbreak.

Saturday, July 28, 2012 2:54:29

The deadly Ebola virus has killed 14 people in western Uganda this month, Ugandan health officials said on Saturday, ending weeks of speculation about the cause of a strange disease that had many people fleeing their homes.

Watched the movie Outbreak and it was along the same lines.

Well, back to the music, as Barry would say.

@Letty,
Blood, Sweat and Tears were really different from other pop music of their time. In the 1970's Boz Scaggs was also refreshingly different.

@wandeljw,
wandel/Goethe, Welcome back. You're right about B, S, and T. You sent me searching again.

William Royce "Boz" Scaggs is an American singer, songwriter and guitarist. He gained fame in the 1960s as a guitarist and occasional lead singer with the Steve Miller Band and in the 1970s with several.

Loved Lowdown and the visuals were a work of art.

Ah, once again, I am reminded of Santa Tomas e Lucas, because he reminded me of this guy as did Low Down.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, thanks again for your comments. I loved (later on) my mom's chicken and dumplings, but when I was a wee thing, I would say: I just want the chicken and not the dumps.

Loved that one by Sam Cooke, Texas.

Your song reminded me of this one.

That bought a few tears to my eyes

So funny...so cute.

Loved all the latest offerings folks. Cal & Sam, two great voices from total opposite ends of the scale.

@Letty,
Sometimes I like a recording simply because it is different from anything else being done at that time. I felt that way about Robbie Robertson's Somewhere Down the Crazy River.

euro, Thanks again for your comments and the observation about "wee Letty".

wow! Loved Waterloo Sunset by the Kinks: " ...dirty old river..."

wandel, I'm with you, buddy. I like things that are different, and Robbie's Somewhere Down the Crazy River reminded me of this one.

My mom loved The Mills Brothers.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for your comment, edgar. I also remember The Mills Brothers for Glow Worm.

I liked Chest Fever by the Band, but as you know, I know them best for The Weight. Had to check out Easy Rider, and I think that was the first time that I saw Jack Nicholson.

@Letty,
Your Mom had good taste, Dean & the Mills Brothers were great.
I was never a huge fan of The Band but I enjoyed those two tracks.
I've always liked The Stones.

Well, I back in our studio again. The kids are on their way back to Orlando.

edgar, Loved The Last Time by The Rolling Stones. I noticed they also did Let's Spend the Night Together. That was an iffy song, and it may have gotten banned for a while.

I really liked The Brothers Four version of El Paso.It was as good as Marty's version.

euro, Thanks for the comment. My mom loved all those Afro songs She used to sing My Darling Nellie Gray and I would sit on her lap and we'd both cry.

Don't know OMD's Souvenir, but it was great. Thanks for the introduction.

Edward Sharpe and Magnetic Zeros Home another new one to me, Irish. Loved listening to both of those songs.

Here's a birthday guy, so first some info:

When the Stones performed Let's Spend the night Together on Ed Sullivan's show, they had to change the words to "spend some time together."

Once you named Boys to Men I knew where you were with the man. Good musicians.

When Bob Dylan was asked to be on the Ed Sullivan Show, he planned on singing this song. He was told to choose something else. So he did not appear that night on the show.
