edgar and euro, thanks for your comments.

Texas, Don Gibson's Sea of Heart Break, was one I didn't know. Really liked it.

euro, Buffy's tribute to the American Indian was one of her better ones. Recognized most of those tribal guys.

Here's another guy to match edgar's Don. Didn't used to like him, but now I've changed my mind.

Back from an amazing day of music at Harbourfront.

Spent some time chatting with musicians I already knew, and met some new (to me) ones. It was a great great day of strings. The event was called Classics 4 - this year's theme was stringed instruments.

The third concert was a mashup of subcontinental Indian classical music and old Ontario folk music.

http://www.harbourfrontcentre.com/whatson/today.cfm?id=3963

Quote:
Indian violin and Ontario folk converge to create brand new musical offerings. Subhadra Vijaykumar on carnatic violin and Arun Ramachandran on mridangam introduce the carnatic violin sounds with traditional pieces, highlighting the improvisational aspects within the classical Indian music framework. When Ontario folk musicians Ian Bell (Muddy York), Njacko Backo and Geoff Somers join in a Muddy Mash-Up, the music takes on its own unique (and very Torontonian) sound! The world in one place indeed.

fast forward to about 1:46 for a listen

Subhadra was on stage with two of the musicians from this group

Njacko Backo was on stage as well - on percussion and kalimba

What a great evening and morning on WA2K radio, yawl. Wish I could acknowledge each contribution, but my way of thanking folks who contribute is to give them a thumbs up.

Rudyard Kipling quote and later became a song.

By the old Moulmein Pagoda, lookin' eastward to the sea,
There's a Burma girl a-settin', and I know she thinks o' me;
For the wind is in the palm-trees, and the temple-bells they say:
“Come you back, you British soldier; come you back to Mandalay"

Today is also Peter Jennings' birthday, and when he died, I quit watching the news altogether.

hbg, I recall when I lived in Virginia, I awakened to Rudee Valley singing Deep Night from the movie My Own Private Idaho. He used a mega phone. Later there was a resurgence of the style with Winchester Cathedral

Today is this guy's birthday.

Had a wonderful time having dinner with the kids from Orlando. Had fish and chips, too, Brit, and although I didn't dance to the music, I did sway to the sounds.

Funny! Queen's Riding a Bicycle would let me listen until I confirmed my age. Naturally I didn't do that.

@Letty,
Good morning, good morning Miss letty.

Kipling's quote reminds me of "it's a long way to Tipperary", very much vintage British empirical wishful thinking.
(no offense meant, that's just the way it was.) (that comes across very Che Guevarary, he he)

Thanks for the introduction to Geddy Lee, nice. Happy to hear you had a wonderful family meal.
"Do ya want salt n' vinegar with them fish n' chips, ma Lady?"

euro, I taught Kipling and read most of his jungle books when I was a kid. I only have one child now, buddy. The kids from Orlando, are simply those who are a couple. G.J. is the one who got rear ended in his car by a man doing 60 miles an hour. He said that my Dave was like a father to him. I think the big mistake with the fish and chips had to do with the melted butter which was of the substitute type. My glucose was sky high this morning. Shocked

Thanks again for your comment.

Tammy's Stand by Your Man is not one that I like, but everyone remembers, methinks.

Morgan, here's one to match your song.

Odd, when I did the trailer to the movie by Anthony Dexter of Rudolph Valentino, someone name Teeny Boone commented. Also missing Onyxelle and eoe.
