@edgarblythe,
Glad you knew them, edgar.

Wow! "the jester" broke all the rules, too. Paranoid Blues concerning The John Birch Society, I didn't know. Good for him for refusing to appear on the show.

Here's Dinah. Is there anyone "finah"?

Dinah Washington is to me one of the finest singers on record. Sailing is a great song also.

@edgarblythe,
I knew you loved them, edgar. Fats Waller's My Little Margie was a surprise. Had no idea that he did that one.

How about a quartet of songs by The Brothers Four. Love this singing group.

Oops, our edgar has fallen asleep at the helm.

Time for me to say good night, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First, George ob loves this poem that was set to music. John of Virginia likes it as well.

Richard Cory

Whenever Richard Cory went down town,
We people on the pavement looked at him:
He was a gentleman from sole to crown,
Clean favored, and imperially slim.

And he was always quietly arrayed,
And he was always human when he talked;
But still he fluttered pulses when he said,
'Good-morning,' and he glittered when he walked.

And he was rich - yes, richer than a king -
And admirably schooled in every grace:
In fine, we thought that he was everything
To make us wish that we were in his place.

So on we worked, and waited for the light,
And went without the meat, and cursed the bread;
And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,
Went home and put a bullet through his head.

Edwin Arlington Robinson

Now, set to music.

And for Sunday, a lovely hymn.

So nice to have Ontario, Dublin, and London with us today.

From Letty with love to everyone, everywhere.

The Brothers Four are a wonderful bunch. I first became a fan when they did The Green Leaves of Summer in the crappy "epic" called the Alamo, starring John Wayne.

@edgarblythe,
Hurry back, edgar, and once again, thanks for your comments.

Your goodnight songs were great. Terry Bradshaw doing Hank Williams' classic was excellent as was John Denver doing For Baby. Didn't know that one by him.

From the news desk as Barry likes to say.LONDON — Tom Jones has apologized to fans after pulling out of an Olympic celebration concert in London after contracting bronchitis.

The 72-year-old Welsh crooner had been due to entertain tens of thousands of people at the outdoor concert in Hyde Park on Saturday. He was replaced by British singer Will Young.

Ah, hope Tom gets better as he certainly does this on well.

And this fellow is going to replace him.

Quote:
Paul Albert Anka, OC (born July 30, 1941, Ottawa) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and actor.

Anka became famous in the late 1950s and 1960s with hit songs like "Diana", "Lonely Boy", and "Put Your Head on My Shoulder". He went on to write such well-known music as the theme for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and one of Tom Jones's biggest hits, "She's a Lady", and the English lyrics for Frank Sinatra's signature song, "My Way" (originally French song "Comme d'habitude").

( those were the days when performers still wore suits , ties , polished shoes - and treated their hair with Brylcream - where have those days gone ??? )
