Anna Moffo (June 27, 1932 – March 9, 2006) was an Italian-American opera singer and one of the leading lyric-coloratura sopranos of her generation. She possessed a warm and radiant voice of considerable range and agility, and was an affecting singing-actress of great physical beauty

Good morning to all WA2K contributors.

hbg, Anna Moffo's La Traviata was great.

You and edgar hurry back.

Had no idea that The Four Freshmen did that one, Texas. I know it best by Nat Cole.

Well, Brit, Dolly and Kris were great on that one. Didn't know it, however, so thanks for the memory.

Love this one by Jack Jones. Just noticed that Bobby and Sandra did it as well.

Good version of the song by Jack. I have a good Tony Bennett version on a vinyl album.

Welcome back, edgar, and Barry. Thanks for restoring our signal.

Well, thanks for the comment about Jack, edgar, and The King was good on that one from Jail House Rock.

My work, Brit, Prince Gautam would love that sound track from your East Indian movie as did I.

Speaking of Old Folks:

There's a chimp and a baboon in this song by Debbie.

@edgarblythe,
My word, edgar, Jo Stafford and Gene Autry singing My Heart Cries for You was great. Had no idea those two did it. Thanks for the comment on Debbie. What a mess that entire family was involved in.

Watched an old TCM the other night called Father Takes a Wife. Desi Arnaz was in it and sang Perfidia, but I found out later that it was dubbed, so here is the song by Julie.

I always felt Desi had a limited voice in some of his songs.

@edgarblythe,
Indeed he did, edgar.

Well, Texas, you sent me searching again.

A jazz and popular singer, Jeffries is noted for being the first black man to star in an American western. He starred as a singing cowboy in several all-black Western films, in which he sang his own western compositions. Jeffries obtained financing for the first black western film and hired Spencer Williams to appear with him. In addition to starring in the film, he sang and performed his own stunts as the cowboy character Bob Blake.

Love Basin Street, buddy, and here's another great combo.

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Barry, and I love that one from Damn Yankee. Sarah Vaughan is always good.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs,

First, more roses by Nat.

Now, one that I think we missed earlier.

good evening all listeners to wa2k !

taking another trip down memory lane ...
with the Lawrence Welk Orchestra :

one of Lawrence's favourite singers was Ava Barber ( he used to introduce her as " the girl from NAXville " .
it's her birthday and she is singing " a bushel and a peck " .
