Great music on WA2K radio.

osso, loved all those Irish songs and they remind me of euroGeorge. Hope he is alright.

Welcome back to you as well, Barry. Love that guy and you sent me searching.

Gilberto Passos Gil Moreira, better known as Gilberto Gil or, is a Brazilian singer, guitarist, and songwriter, known for both his musical innovation and political commitment.

Not feeling too well this evening so I'm saying goodnight early with Johnny and Bobby.

thanks for the fine music !

today is the birthday of Frank Mills - here is his great song " love me , love me , love me " - and a wonderful video clip !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFR-YFTZpOE&feature=related

Quote:
Frank Mills (born June 27, 1942 in Toronto, Ontario), is a Canadian pianist and recording artist, best known for his solo instrumental hit "Music Box Dancer".

Mills grew up in Verdun, Quebec[1] and started playing piano at the age of three. He attended McGill University[1] for five years. He began with Engineering, switched to a B.Sc. programme, then Arts and finally studied in the Department of Music. He entertained his fraternity brothers (Delta Upsilon) with songs from ragtime to a new artist Bob Dylan. The fraternity piano had thumbtacks on every hammer and produced a unique sound. In the late 1960s Mills became a member of The Bells. He left the band in 1971 just before it had international success with the single "Stay Awhile."

The musician who calls himself Moby is the great-grandnephew of Herman Melville who wrote Moby Dick. Moby performed Ring of Fire as a duet with Suzanne Vega recently.

Hurry back, Brit and edgar. Really enjoy both of your songs.

hbg is back once again, and Frank's Love Me Love Me Love Me was so tender. I recall his Music Box Dancer. You hurry back as well.

Barry, I especially enjoyed the concerto by Brassed Off, and, of course, The Jingles.

Welcome back to you as well, Wandel. Wow! Great one by Moby. I've only heard Ring of Fire by the man in black. I never think of Moby Dick that I don't think of yitwail. Hope he and JM are alright.

Really got inspired by all the music on WA2K. Here's one that I recall by Edison Lighthouse.

Wonder if hbg knows this one.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, edgar.

Eric was another I didn't like in the beginning, but Angie is a good one. Of course, every body wants their picture on the cover of The Rolling Stones.

The visuals in your video reminded me of this one, Texas.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCEXyBSvtho

Here are the lyrics.

'Tis the last rose of summer left blooming alone
All her lovely companions are faded and gone
No flower of her kindred, no rosebud is nigh
To reflect back her blushes and give sigh for sigh

I'll not leave thee, thou lone one, to pine on the stem
Since the lovely are sleeping, go sleep thou with them
Thus kindly I scatter thy leaves o'er the bed
Where thy mates of the garden lie scentless and dead

So soon may I follow when friendships decay
And from love's shining circle the gems drop away
When true hearts lie withered and fond ones are flown
Oh who would inhabit this bleak world alone?
This bleak world alone.

Speaking of roses, this is the first song I ever heard Johnny Cash sing.

@edgarblythe,
I remember that one by Johnny, edgar. I didn't care for him in the beginning either, but have come to admire the man.

@Letty,
yes , letty , i do know that song !

but do you know this little musical gem ? Wink

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9UJ3kSztFo

the translation would be " parade of the gnomes " - a typical piece of " coffee house music " - usually played in the afternoon by 3 - 4 retired musicians - while the ladies sipped coffee and nibbled cake .

it was particularly well-known in vienna .

and here is slightly different version with a pix of the gnomes Laughing

@hamburgboy,
hbg, I didn't know that beautiful German music, but I love the violins and the gnomes. Here's some lovely music to go with your supper.

Remember this guy?

@hamburgboy,

I have heard it said, and I don't know the proof of this but it may be likely, that modern-day garden gnomes are the descendants of the Priapus figures which used to be placed in Roman gardens, and houses, for luck.

hbg just cleared that up, edgar. Frankly, it's the only song that I liked from that movie.

Didn't know that one by Hoagy, Texas. I'll have to check that out later.

Oops, Ontario, am I in trouble? Razz

Well, I loved that Viennese coffee music, and thanks for playing it.

Going to say goodnight with two songs.

First, Johnny.

Now, a different vocalist sings this moon song.
